On the afternoon of October 3 in Hanoi, the Coast Guard Command held a ceremony to announce the Ministry of National Defense's decision to change the name of the Coast Guard Region to the Coast Guard Region Command.

On September 10, 2014, the Minister of National Defense issued a Decision to rename Coast Guard Regions 1, 2, 3, and 4 to Coast Guard Region Commands 1, 2, 3, and 4.

This is both an honor and a responsibility, opening up opportunities and favorable conditions for the Coast Guard to continue developing in a revolutionary, disciplined, elite, and modern direction, meeting the requirements of the new situation.

To effectively implement the Decision, he suggested that in the initial stage of renaming the Coast Guard Command, it is necessary to proactively advise and propose to the Government and the Ministry of National Defense on building the organization and staffing, ensuring a streamlined and reasonable number of troops; investing in, purchasing equipment and technology, consolidating barracks and wharves to match the new ships and boats in order to gradually modernize the force. At the same time, focus on building a team of cadres with strong political will and high qualifications.

Improve legal knowledge and foreign languages ​​for officers, employees and soldiers of the Coast Guard to meet the requirements of the task. Quickly stabilize the organization and staff, focus on building a clean and strong Party organization. A strong unit in all aspects, with high internal unity. First of all, the Party Committee and the Regional Command must uphold the sense of responsibility and set an example for the unit to learn and follow.”

At the ceremony, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Thanh Cung awarded the Quyet Thang Military Flag to the Commands of Coast Guard Regions 1, 2, 3, and 4.
