Duc Vinh becomes champion of Vietnam's Got Talent 2015

The 9-year-old boy excellently transformed into both a girl and an old man, winning great support from the judges and audience at the final gala on the evening of April 5.

The final gala and awards ceremony of Vietnam's Got Talent 2015 took place in Ho Chi Minh City. Overcoming 13 other contestants, Nguyen Duc Vinh became the champion. Although the number of votes was not announced, the organizers said that the first prize winner far surpassed the second place winner.

The 9-year-old boy could not hold back his emotions and shed tears when receiving the highest prize, worth 500 million VND, on stage.

Nguyen Duc Vinh comes from Bac Ninh. Since childhood, he has had a great passion for traditional art forms. His mother once shared: "His father likes to listen to cheo and folk songs, so he often turns on the radio. Every time he does, he listens too. By the age of 3 and a half, he is addicted, asking his father to turn on the radio every day. When he is a little older, he starts to babble and sing along. Seeing that he has a passion for art, we both try to save up to buy a set for him to watch and practice."

In the final performance, with the excerpt of the play The Old Man Carries His Wife to the Festival, Nguyen Duc Vinh made the hall silent as soon as he stepped onto the stage. From the sharp eyes, the coquettish gestures of the flirtatious wife to the trembling legs, the weak voice of the old husband, all were performed naturally and smoothly by the young contestant. Even the parts where the voice changed from the girl to the old man and vice versa were completed skillfully and smoothly.

Judge Thanh Loc had to admit that the further he went into the round, the more attracted he was to Duc Vinh. The male artist no longer considered the boy a contestant, but a colleague. "I felt like when he acted, someone possessed him. His eyes were incredibly soulful. Duc Vinh is no longer a talent, but a prodigy," Thanh Loc shared. Meanwhile, Hoai Linh, Huy Tuan and Thuy Hanh also praised the contestant's acting talent.

Not waiting for the gala night, throughout the competition, Duc Vinh always brought impressive performances. At the first final night, Duc Vinh received a lot of applause from the audience as well as high appreciation from the "power quartet" thanks to the performance Xuy Van pretending to be crazy. Judge Hoai Linh noticed that the young boy already had the demeanor of a professional cheo actor. From the preliminary round, he also made a strong impression thanks to his performance of the cheo excerpt Thi Mau len chua. His excellent acting ability made Duc Vinh affectionately called by fans as "Thi Mau boy". In the semi-finals, with the performance of Chau Van singing and dancing to the song Co Doi Thuong Ngan, the young contestant was also warmly cheered by the audience, making judge Thanh Loc "goosebumps" when watching.

Bich Ngoc ended the competition with the song "Love life".

The runner-up prize of Vietnam's Got Talent 2015 went to Ngo Phuong Bich Ngoc. Her mash-up performance of Hong Hong Tuyet Tuyet - Nang Co Con Xuan - Yeu Doi made Thanh Loc extremely surprised. According to him, not only was she able to perform many different genres of music, the child contestant also showed off her singing skills that were no different from adults. Musician Huy Tuan highly appreciated the entertainment value of this performance.

In addition to Duc Vinh and Bich Ngoc, the top 4 also includes the group Chuon Chuon Giay and the dancing couple Gia Linh - Gia Bao.

The gala night was shorter than the previous season. At the beginning of the competition night, judges Thanh Loc and Hoai Linh took turns performing songs calling for votes from the audience. The 14 excellent faces that made it to the final round also combined together in the opening performance. However, the announcement of the top 4 afterwards was a bit long with all the contestants reappearing on stage, making the audience feel tired and impatient.

This year, the number of audience at the gala night was not as large as last year. However, fans still showed their love and enthusiastic support for the contestants' performances through continuous applause.
