The co-pilot did not open the cockpit door when the captain returned and "pressed the button" to descend and crash the plane into the mountains.

Foreign news sources such as CNN, RT, and Channel News Asia quoted a French prosecutor as saying that the co-pilot of the Germanwings Airbus 320 may have deliberately caused the plane to crash.

Speaking at a press conference today (March 26), Marseille prosecutor Brice Robin said the co-pilot had "locked the captain out of the cockpit" with the intention of crashing the plane.

This is the result that French investigators obtained after decoding the cockpit voice recorder (black box) for the last 30 minutes before the plane crashed.

According to Brice Robin, the co-pilot, identified as Andreas Lubitz, a German national, took control of the aircraft after the captain left the cockpit. The co-pilot did not open the cockpit door when the captain returned and pressed the button to descend, crashing the plane into the French Alps.

Prosecutor Brice Robin added that there was no basis to conclude that this was an act of terrorism.

The Germanwings plane crash on the morning of March 24th resulted in 150 fatalities.
