Author of 'Ceramic Road' wins International Design Award in the US

Last night (March 28), artist Nguyen Thu Thuy (born in 1971) - author of many works such as: Ceramic Road along the Red River, the largest ceramic national flag in Truong Sa - said that she had just won the Encouragement Prize in the 8th International Design Competition in Los Angeles, USA with the work "Golden Lotus Fountain".

The International Design Awards (IDA) was established in 2007 in Los Angeles, USA with the aim of discovering, honoring and promoting creative and innovative design visions and discovering emerging talents in 5 fields: Architecture, Interior, Product, Graphics and Fashion.

The annual competition has attracted thousands of designers from around the world. Each contestant submitted 10 photos describing their latest design work along with a short essay describing the work, the design process, and a brief biography of the designer. The jury of the competition has just announced the winning works from hundreds of entries from 52 countries around the world. Artist Nguyen Thu Thuy (Vietnam) won the consolation prize with the work Hanoi Golden Lotus Fountain in the professional product design category.

The IDA Gold, Silver and Bronze trophies will be awarded to the top designers who are crowned Designer of the Year at the awards ceremony, which will be held every two years in Los Angeles.

The Golden Lotus Fountain (in Mai Xuan Thuong flower garden, next to West Lake) was the idea of ​​artist Nguyen Thu Thuy and was completed on October 9, 2014 to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the liberation of the capital (October 10, 1954-2014). The 4m high work with 18 ceramic petals is gently and gracefully shaped and covered with a ceramic mosaic with millions of small 2x2cm ceramic pieces skillfully arranged. Next to the fountain are 4 ceramic chairs in an arc shape printed with familiar images of Hanoi.
