Ky Son Commune (Tan Ky): Creating position and strength for a breakthrough

(Baonghean) - With the attention of superiors in all aspects, high solidarity and unity within the Party Committee and promoting the leadership and direction of the Party Committee and government, in the 2010 - 2015 term, Ky Son commune (Tan Ky) has built a strong political system, diversified economic models to eliminate hunger, reduce poverty and promote the movement of building new rural areas.

Ky Son commune is located along the Ho Chi Minh road of Tan Ky district, the land is quite fragmented by market holes and hills. The whole commune has 2,756 hectares of natural land; 17 hamlets, 1,690 households, 7,778 people, 69 households, 453 people; is a gathering place for people from many provinces and cities in the country with diverse and rich cultural traditions. Ky Son does not have many advantages for economic development, but has a team of united, enthusiastic and responsible cadres, especially in the task of economic development, hunger eradication and poverty reduction.

As a commune with a sugarcane growing area providing raw materials for Song Con Sugar Factory, the Party Committee and the government have cooperated with the factory to build a model of intensive sugarcane cultivation with high productivity on inefficient fertile soil in Doi Cung 2 hamlet. The success of the model is that income increased 1.4 times compared to normal. After that, the Party Committee of the commune issued a resolution on mobilizing people to convert land to promote mechanization, the Commune Agriculture Committee replicated the model to hamlets. The Commune Farmers' Association built 3 models of producing large green apples with high income in Doc Su hamlet; the commune budget supported households participating in this model with 17 million VND, households spent 90 million VND to create a new apple production area. After 3 years of harvesting, each apple growing model has an income of nearly 300 million VND/ha, the products are purchased right in the garden.

During the 2010-2015 term, 12 vocational training courses and 25 training courses were organized. Up to now, the rate of farmers who have received training has reached 60%. The application of science and technology in production has increasingly achieved high economic efficiency; farmers' use of mechanization in production has increased. In addition to the rice area that can be self-sufficient in food security, Ky Son also strongly develops livestock farming. Disease prevention and control work has always been focused on, implementing well the livestock vaccination regulations, increasing the vaccination rate from 40% in 2010 to 80% in 2014. At the same time, some ineffective rice-growing areas have been converted to fish farming; currently, the aquaculture area is 115 hectares, with a stable output of 170-180 tons/year.

Taking advantage of the forest, Ky Son people have both protected the forest and combined planting and exploiting production forests effectively, forming a production forest area in Ky Nam and Dong Nay areas with an area of ​​1,192.8 hectares; doing a good job of forest protection and forest fire prevention, increasing income from forest gardens, raising forest coverage from 39.5% in 2010 to 41.5% in 2015.

Chairman of Ky Son Commune People's Committee, comrade Nguyen Le Dinh, said: In building new rural areas, Ky Son has achieved remarkable results. The total investment capital in the past 4 years is 25 billion VND; of which people contributed 2.5 billion VND. The most outstanding point in building new rural areas in the locality is the movement to build roads that has been responded to by the whole population, with 17/17 hamlet units doing a good job of mobilizing people to donate land to open roads and 550 households have donated land with an area of ​​13,200 m2, hundreds of meters of fences and thousands of trees, crops of all kinds, currently the roads have ensured the size according to new rural standards. In particular, 1.1 km of concrete road in Tien Phong 1 hamlet has been completed. By 2014, the commune had completed 12/19 NTM criteria... The average growth rate in 5 years (2010 - 2015) reached 13.5% compared to the congress resolution target of 15%; the average income for the whole year of 2015 is estimated at 22.7 million VND, exceeding the congress target.

Secretary of Ky Son commune, comrade Ho Huu Tho added: “Ky Son has effectively implemented the project of the District Party Committee on building and consolidating grassroots party organizations, eliminating hamlets and schools without party cells or party members. The number of party cells achieving the title of Strong Party Cell has increased every year, there are no weak party cells. For 5 consecutive years (2010 - 2014), the Party Committee has always been recognized as Strong Party Cell by the superiors. In 2010 and 2011, it was recognized as an outstanding exemplary Strong Party Cell”. During the past term, the work of political and ideological education, dissemination of the Party and State's guidelines, policies, and guidelines, etc. has been given attention, creating consensus in society, contributing to the development of the homeland. The political level and professional expertise of cadres have been gradually standardized, meeting the requirements and tasks. The Fatherland Front and political, social and professional organizations have always been consolidated and improved, increasingly promoting and affirming their role and position as the center to attract and gather all classes of people, union members and association members, building the great national unity bloc, building the Vietnam Fatherland Front and Association, actively participating in protecting and building the Party and the government.
