Despite Manchester United currently sitting only fourth in the Premier League, manager Louis van Gaal still believes his team can win the title this season.

After 30 rounds, MU has accumulated 59 points and is trailing Premier League leaders Chelsea by a significant 8 points. This gap is very difficult to bridge, especially considering Chelsea has played one fewer game than their closest rivals.

Despite Manchester United's clear disadvantage in the title race, the Dutch manager remains optimistic, sharing: "The race for the top four is still wide open, with both Liverpool and Tottenham still having a chance. It's true that we've made them suffer in the last two rounds, but don't forget we still have to play against teams in the top three in the remaining rounds. In football, anything can happen, and theoretically, Manchester United can still win the Premier League."

Commenting on the in-form midfielder Marouane Fellaini, coach Van Gaal added: “I heard many stories about him before coming here. In his very first training session, Marouane met all the requirements I set for him. I'm not surprised that Marouane played well because he is a very ambitious player. It's true that Marouane has been unlucky with frequent injuries and illnesses, but as long as he's healthy, I'm sure I'll use him.”

Before concluding the interview, manager Van Gaal denied reports that striker Robin van Persie would recover from injury and return this weekend: “Van Persie needs to pass the mandatory tests to be registered to play. At the moment, he is not ready to return.”
