According to the police announcement, the group is suspected of supplying heroin to "drug lords" in the Catalunya region, northeastern Spain, as well as selling directly to addicts.

The profits from drug trafficking would be transferred to Morocco for the kingpins to "launder" by buying real estate.

The bust of the heroin trafficking ring was the result of an investigation launched in February, after Spanish police discovered a "major heroin selling location" in the town of El Vendrell, about 70 km south of the Catalan capital Barcelona, where the "headquarters" of this criminal group was located./.
