Hong Duc Publishing House confirms that the story "Coconut Skull - Human Skull" is a pirated book.
Mr. Bui Viet Bac said that his management unit was impersonated in the publication of a fairy tale book that transformed "coconut skull" into "human skull".
Recently, the story of Coconut Skull in the Vietnamese Folktales series was discovered to contain details that are not suitable for children. The book tells the story of Coconut Skull's mother giving birth after drinking water from a "human skull", instead of "coconut skull" as in the familiar printed versions. In addition, the story also contains words that are quite strong for children such as: "monster", "bury it alive".
The book is printed in small format 13x19cm, in the form of a simplified story with illustrations. The book has the name of Hong Duc Publishing House, printed with the logo of this unit, along with information about the submission of copies since the end of 2013.

Speaking to reporters on the afternoon of April 1, Mr. Bui Viet Bac - Director of Hong Duc Publishing House - confirmed that the publishing house had been impersonated in the release of the book "Skull Coconut". Mr. Bac said: "After receiving feedback from readers, we checked the archives to review the book's publishing process. During the inspection, we did not find any archives of the book "Skull Coconut". We used other inspection measures, but we also did not find any. Thus, Hong Duc Publishing House did not grant permission to publish this book, we were impersonated".
Mr. Bac added that since applying the publishing process under the new Publishing Law, the records have been stored tightly, so there is no possibility of them being lost.
Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Bao - Deputy Director of the Publishing Department - said that the Department has received a report from Hong Duc. However, whether this publishing house has been impersonated or not requires further investigation and verification.
