(Baonghean) - Every spring, following President Ho Chi Minh's teaching, "For the benefit of ten years, plant trees; for the benefit of a hundred years, cultivate people," Party committees and authorities at all levels in Thai Hoa Town enthusiastically participate in the grand event – ​​the "Tree Planting Festival in eternal remembrance of President Ho Chi Minh." To date, six years after its separation, tens of thousands of trees have been planted in the town. Each year, the Town Party Committee and People's Committee assign the Agricultural Extension Center and the Department of Agriculture to select a specific location or facility, such as a school or park, to organize tree planting, providing shade and beautifying the landscape…

Newly planted trees in Bau Sen Forest Park

We visited Bau Sen Forest Park in Hoa Hieu ward – considered by locals as the "lungs of the town." This project was built to celebrate the Party Congress and the 85th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam. It's a project that, in the future, will be an ideal destination for the town's residents and tourists from near and far. Besides the recreational area with motorboats and pedal boats for children, the park's grounds and landscaping have also received significant investment from relevant departments and agencies. Specifically, during the 2015 Tree Planting Festival held at Bau Sen Forest Park, Thai Hoa town mobilized resources to plant approximately 300 valuable ornamental trees imported from other localities, such as Osaka, milkwood, crape myrtle, cherry blossoms, and red bauhinia… while the shade trees are mostly native species. Remarkably, out of the total investment of 400 million VND for this tree planting campaign, 300 million VND came from social contributions. And to achieve these impressive results, the town's leaders, in addition to directing grassroots efforts to mobilize the people to plant trees, also organized meetings with dedicated businesses in the area to call upon and encourage them to make practical contributions to the town, with the clear principle and purpose of "planting trees today is investing in the future".

Meanwhile, at the town stadium in Quang Tien ward, a few weeks ago, many new trees were planted around the grounds at a total cost of 45 million VND. Mr. Le Hop Huyen, Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Tien ward, said: “With the aim of creating a practical welfare project to celebrate the Party Congresses at all levels, leading up to the 12th National Party Congress, the ward's Party committee and government recognized that the stadium is a venue for cultural and sports events in the town and a place for recreation, exercise, and sports for the ward's residents, so planting shade trees was necessary. We submitted a document expressing our desire and immediately received attention from the town's leaders. Following that, a meeting was held to mobilize businesses to support the tree planting in the ward, including: Hong An Company (10 million VND), Song Hieu Construction Company (5 million VND), 250 Construction and Installation Joint Stock Company (5 million VND)..., and each member of the District Party Committee Standing Committee contributed 2 million VND.”

At the same time, to mobilize public support, the leaders of Quang Tien ward went to each household to encourage families to voluntarily plant trees, and the people wholeheartedly supported the initiative. Notably, the family of Mr. Thai – Secretary and Chairman of the People's Committee of Nghia Hoa commune, and Mr. Hai – Head of the Education and Training Department, each planted one tree worth 6 million VND, while Mr. Than Quang Hung planted one tree worth 5 million VND, and many other families also participated. With the involvement of the entire political system from the town to the ward and the high level of support from the people, the area around the town's stadium is now almost completely covered with trees. It is believed that in the not too distant future, these trees will provide shade for the town's residents whenever they come to participate in cultural, sports, and recreational events.

Comrade Dinh Van Thi - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Thai Hoa Town, said: "In the new rural development program, along with building synchronous infrastructure to accelerate the achievement of all criteria, we also recognize the need to create a green, clean, and beautiful landscape environment. Therefore, once a year, we will choose a location to organize tree planting. The trees are mainly mobilized from social sources, and to encourage people to participate, each official and Party member in the Town Party Committee, People's Committee, and departments must set an example by contributing one tree per unit. Specifically, before each tree planting campaign, we will hold a meeting with all departments, agencies, and businesses to explain the spirit, purpose, and significance of creating a green landscape throughout the town. And to encourage participation, we must be exemplary leaders, so for the 2015 tree planting campaign, the Standing Committee of the Town Party Committee contributed 6 million VND, and the People's Committee leaders contributed 6 million VND." "Likely, the Education Department and the Urban Management Department are units that have made significant contributions to the town's green planting social movement. In addition, each department will have to register to plant at least one tree."

We believe that with these practical and concrete actions, in the not too distant future, Thai Hoa Town will become a "green town"; contributing to the early completion of the roadmap to build Thai Hoa Town into a dynamic growth pole and one of the key economic zones of the province.
