Asia's Got Talent is still airing despite not having received permission.
On the evening of March 23rd, episode 4 of Asia's Got Talent 2015 was broadcast on Vietnam Television (VTV). This game show was among those programs that were not considered for registration of partnership, according to a document sent to VTV on March 18th by the Department of Broadcasting, Television and Electronic Information.
However, since then, Asia's Got Talent has continued to air for domestic audiences on two VTV channels as scheduled. Currently, neither the Department nor VTV has confirmed whether the program will be taken off the air.
Previously, the Ministry of Information and Communications also sent a document to VTV, announcing the temporary suspension of issuing registration certificates for joint programs between VTV and BHD and Cat Tien Sa companies. This decision was explained as aiming to rectify and strengthen the control of content in joint programs. According to the Ministry, some joint programs between VTV and media partners have repeatedly made numerous content errors, including disseminating false information, using offensive language and images that are inappropriate for Vietnamese customs and traditions, and violating advertising regulations...
Asia's Got Talent is a reality TV show featuring thousands of talented individuals from 15 countries across Asia. BHD has acquired the rights to produce and broadcast a Vietnamese version in Vietnam. This version consists of 20 episodes, airing from March 15th.

Kieu Anh performs on the "Asia's Got Talent" stage. |
In the preliminary round for a spot in the semi-finals, broadcast on the evening of March 23rd, 20-year-old Nguyen Kieu Anh from Hanoi competed alongside contestants from other Asian countries to showcase her talent before the four judges: American music producer David Foster, British singer Melanie C (former member of the Spice Girls), Indonesian singer Aggun, and Vanness Wu (former member of the famous F4 boy band).
Kieu Anh played the zither and sang the folk song "Sitting by the Peach Blossom Tree" (a Quan Ho folk song from Bac Ninh). This folk song had previously been adapted into English lyrics by composer Nguyen Xinh Xo, but Kieu Anh didn't have the opportunity to perform it. While she was singing the Vietnamese version of the Quan Ho folk melody, the judges interrupted her performance and unanimously pressed the elimination button. "You play the zither very well, but unfortunately we couldn't hear your singing clearly because your voice is a bit weak," commented singer Melanie C. Kieu Anh was quite surprised to be eliminated so early, before she could finish the song.
Backstage at the competition, the Hanoi-based singer shared that she wasn't entirely satisfied with her performance. Despite having performed abroad many times, the singer admitted that she still felt nervous and anxious standing on a large stage like Asia's Got Talent.
"When I perform this song on stage in Vietnam, everyone likes it. But performing it on a foreign stage is a different story. The language barrier is a major obstacle because if you can't understand what you're hearing, it's very difficult to appreciate the song's content and the singer's performance," Kieu Anh shared.
