General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong meets with Chairman of the Belarusian Senate
According to a special correspondent of the Vietnam News Agency, on the afternoon of November 27, at the National Assembly Headquarters in the capital Minsk, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong had a meeting with Mr. Anatoly N. Rubinov, Chairman of the Council of the Republic (Senate) of Belarus.

In particular, this visit to Belarus by the General Secretary and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation will further promote bilateral relations, bringing comprehensive cooperation between the two countries to a new height.
General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong highly appreciated and congratulated Belarus on the great achievements it has made in maintaining political stability, developing socio-economy, and constantly improving people's lives; and expressed his firm belief that the Belarusian people will continue to gain even greater new achievements in the cause of building, protecting and developing the country.
After announcing some major results of the talks with President Alexander Lukashenko and Prime Minister Mikhail Myasnikovich on the recent situation in Vietnam, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and Chairman of the Council of the Republic Anatoly N. Rubinov discussed bilateral relations and the activities of the two countries' parliaments. The two sides agreed that the cooperative and friendly relations between the two countries' parliaments play a very important role in the overall development of long-term and sustainable cooperation in all fields between Vietnam and Belarus.
The two sides emphasized the need to continue effectively implementing the Cooperation Agreement between the National Assembly of Vietnam and the National Assembly of Belarus (April 2009), which is an important legal basis for strengthening bilateral cooperation between the legislative bodies of the two countries; at the same time, further strengthening cooperation between specialized agencies of the two countries' parliaments, exchanging delegations at all levels, including high-level, specialized committees, and agencies serving the parliaments; discussing issues of mutual concern to the two national assemblies; sharing and exchanging legislative experience, supervising and deciding on important issues of the country, experience in the activities of deputies, and the mechanism of elected representation; actively coordinating closely and supporting each other at multilateral regional and international inter-parliamentary forums...
The two sides said that the Vietnam-Belarus Friendship Parliamentary Group and the working group of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus in cooperation with the National Assembly of Vietnam need to continue to cooperate more closely to act as an active bridge for all cooperation activities between the two countries' parliaments.
On this occasion, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong conveyed the invitation of National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung to the leaders of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus to visit and attend the 132nd Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Assembly to be held in Vietnam in 2015.
On the same day, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and his delegation visited the Minsk Automobile Plant (MAZ) - an automobile factory with a long history of development in Belarus and has maintained a stable position in the world automobile manufacturing market. Currently, the cooperation between the Minsk Automobile Plant and the Vietnam Engine and Agricultural Machinery Corporation (VEAM) of Vietnam has brought positive results, the consumption of MAZ vehicles assembled by VEAM in the Vietnamese market is progressing well, contributing to increasing the bilateral trade turnover between Vietnam and Belarus.
Next, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and the delegation visited the Museum of the History of the Great Patriotic War, which displays and preserves documents and artifacts about the sacrifices and great and decisive contributions of the former Soviet people, including the Belarusian people, in the Great Patriotic War, saving the Soviet people and all of humanity from the fascist disaster.
The Minister of Culture of Belarus, Mayor of Minsk and Director of the Museum of the History of the Great Patriotic War invited General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong to visit and introduce the museum's galleries.
In his guestbook, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong wrote: “The names of Soviet heroes and martyrs will forever be imprinted in the hearts of the world's people and will live forever in human history. I respectfully wish the Belarusian people to continue the glorious and proud tradition of their ancestors in the history of the previous Patriotic War to build today's Belarus to develop, prosper, and be happy for the people.”
On the same afternoon, in the capital Minsk, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation had a friendly meeting with members of the Belarus-Vietnam Friendship Association and Belarusian veterans who fought in Vietnam.
General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong expressed his emotion at meeting comrades and loyal and trustworthy friends of the Vietnamese people, who always care about and are attached to Vietnam, actively contributing to fostering the traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation between Vietnam and Belarus.
Over the years, the solidarity and friendship between the people of Vietnam and Belarus has continuously developed, serving as a solid foundation for the increasingly developing multifaceted cooperation between the two countries.
Sharing with Belarusian friends about the situation in Vietnam, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong affirmed the consistent policy of the Party and State of Vietnam to always focus on strengthening friendship and cooperation with traditional friendly countries, including Belarus.
The General Secretary highly appreciated the active role of the Belarus-Vietnam Friendship Association and the Vietnam-Belarus Friendship Association in recent times, which have carried out many positive activities to strengthen solidarity, mutual understanding and exchanges between the people of the two countries. The General Secretary believed that in the coming time, the Belarus-Vietnam Friendship Association will continue to be an effective bridge to bring the people of the two countries closer together, creating a solid foundation for bringing the relationship between the two countries to a new level, more practical, effective and trustworthy. The General Secretary hoped that the two friendship associations of the two countries would increase exchanges and experiences, especially in educating the younger generation to continue the tradition of good friendship between Vietnam and Belarus.
In a friendly and intimate atmosphere, the delegates of the Belarus-Vietnam Friendship Association and Belarusian veterans who fought in Vietnam expressed their joy in welcoming General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation in the capital Minsk; emphasizing their love and admiration for the beautiful and peaceful country of Vietnam, the brave, patriotic and hard-working Vietnamese people. Always paying close attention to the situation in Vietnam and being happy with the achievements that the Vietnamese people have achieved in the cause of national construction and development, the delegates of the Belarus-Vietnam Friendship Association and Belarusian veterans who fought in Vietnam affirmed that they will do their best to make the people of the two countries closer and more connected, so that the image of the country and the people of Vietnam will forever be in the hearts of every Belarusian, contributing to fostering and developing the good traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation between the two countries, while supporting and helping the Vietnamese community in Belarus.
On the same day, within the framework of the visit, Minister of Industry and Trade Vu Huy Hoang worked with the Belarus-Vietnam Intergovernmental Committee on Economic and Trade Cooperation; Deputy Minister of Public Security Bui Van Nam worked with the Chairman of the Belarus National Security Committee; Deputy Minister of National Defense Truong Quang Khanh worked with the Belarus Military Academy.
