Opening of the Conference of Women Parliamentarians
On the morning of March 28th, in Hanoi, the Conference of Women Parliamentarians – a special event within the framework of the 132nd General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU-132) – officially opened.

| Currently, women make up only about 22% of the parliamentary membership, while their proportion is over 50% of the population. |
Contributing to the activities of the IPU-132 General Assembly, female parliamentarians will discuss two topics on the General Assembly's agenda: Cyber warfare: A serious issue for world peace and security; Shaping new mechanisms for water governance: Promoting parliamentary action on water.
This forum provides a framework for female parliamentarians to exchange ideas and contribute directly to the decision-making process, finding concrete solutions that will contribute to the final text and documents of the IPU.
The Conference of Women Parliamentarians is a prime example, clearly demonstrating the goal of strengthening the role of women in politics, bringing about political equality for women, and increasing the number of female parliamentarians active in the legislative field through regulations and requirements for member parliaments.
The conference of women parliamentarians, attended by more than 200 female delegates, will also celebrate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the Conference of Women Parliamentarians mechanism.
