Linh Son commune (Anh Son district) receives the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces.

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of April 26th, the Party Committee, armed forces, and people of Linh Son commune solemnly held a ceremony to receive the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces awarded by the President of Vietnam.

Attending the ceremony were Major General Nguyen Manh Thang - former Director of the Intelligence Department of the Ministry of National Defense; Major General Cao Xuan Khuong - former Deputy Commander of Military Region 4; and Lieutenant Colonel Vuong Kim Hai - Head of Political Affairs of the Provincial Military Command. Representing Anh Son district were Comrade Le Hong Vinh - Provincial Party Committee member, Secretary of the District Party Committee, along with other district leaders, veteran revolutionaries, and a large number of local people.

On behalf of the President of Vietnam, Comrade Le Hong Vinh, Secretary of the Anh Son District Party Committee, presented the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces to Linh Son commune.

On behalf of the Party Committee, the government, and the people of Linh Son commune, Comrade Cao Xuan Dao, Secretary of the Party Committee, recalled the heroic and indomitable fighting tradition of the commune during its struggle and development. Linh Son, formerly known as Nam Cai commune (Gay land), was also the cradle of the "Popular Education" movement. Throughout the two wars of resistance against French colonialism and American imperialism, Linh Son was one of the first communes in the country to build a revolutionary movement. In 1925, the "Friendship" organization established the Yen Xuan School – the place where the first Party branch of the district and province was founded. Through the two wars, the commune suffered 263 martyrs, 256 wounded soldiers, 117 sick soldiers, 62 former soldiers affected by Agent Orange, 97 people killed, 86 injured, and 124 houses belonging to the people, 6 cooperative warehouses, and 16 classrooms were completely destroyed or damaged.

Entering the period of reform, the Party Committee of Linh Son commune firmly established a strong foundation of public support, combining economic development with national defense. The commune emphasized four main economic sectors: specialized rice cultivation, development of economic models, livestock farming, and tea cultivation. Alongside these were the development of service industries. As a result, by 2014, total food production reached 4,520 tons, and average per capita income by the end of 2014 reached over 24 million VND/person/year, an increase of 11 million VND/person/year compared to 2010. The poverty rate decreased significantly, with no more starving households or dilapidated houses.

Over the past three years of implementing the new rural development program, the commune has mobilized over 35 billion VND to develop the Gay market, the commune's administrative offices, the commune's cultural center, the primary school, and the kindergarten, with each project costing between 1.2 and 5 billion VND. The fields of culture and education have received significant attention, and the commune regularly focuses on building up its military and police forces, ensuring both quantity and quality, and strengthening its grassroots political system.

In recognition of these contributions, the commune was awarded 82 resistance medals of various types by the State, 69 people were recognized as veteran revolutionary cadres, nearly 1,400 people received resistance medals of various ranks, 14 people were awarded certificates of merit to the nation, 1 was named a Hero of the Armed Forces, 7 were recognized as Heroic Vietnamese Mothers, and 4 people were promoted to the rank of Major General. The commune's Party Committee has been recognized for many years as an exemplary Party Committee, receiving commendations from the Provincial Party Committee; the local government consistently performs its duties excellently, receiving the "Leading Unit in Emulation Movement" flag from the Government and the Provincial People's Committee; and the Fatherland Front and other mass organizations consistently perform their duties excellently, receiving numerous commendations from the Central and Provincial authorities. In recognition of these achievements, in 2015, the Party Committee and people of Linh Son commune were honored to be awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces by the President of Vietnam.

Speaking at the ceremony, Comrade Le Hong Vinh congratulated and acknowledged the great contributions of the local armed forces. He hoped that the Party Committee and people of the commune would continue to maintain their faith, overcome difficulties and challenges, successfully implement the goals set by the new term of the commune's Party Congress, and develop resolutions that are relevant to reality, contributing to the rapid transformation of the district into a prosperous district of the province.
