Seminar on Cultural and Academic Traditions of the Nguyen Trong Family in Nghe An

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of May 4, at Nghe An Provincial Library, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism in coordination with the Institute of History under the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences organized a scientific seminar on the cultural traditions and mandarinate of the Nguyen Trong family, Trung Can, Nghe An.

Attending the workshop were representatives of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Nghe An; scientists from central agencies such as the Institute of History, the Institute of Han Nom Studies... and research agencies and organizations of Nghe An province; many descendants of the Nguyen Trong, Trung Can, Nghe An families.

The Nguyen Trong family in Trung Can village (Nam Trung commune, Nam Dan) has a tradition of nearly 500 years. The Nguyen Trong family of Trung Can village is originally from Ben Ne village (Nom name is Ke Sia, now in Hung Dao commune, Hung Nguyen district, Nghe An province). From the first ancestor, Mr. Nguyen Trong Quyen, the Nguyen Trong family of Trung Can village has developed into 10 branches. Up to now, the generations of descendants of the Nguyen Trong family have not only grown in number and expanded their living area, but also produced many people who have contributed to their homeland and country.

Contributing to the conference were 36 quality reports, focusing on 3 groups: the cultural tradition - the mandarinate of the Nguyen Trong family; the historical - cultural value of Trung Can communal house and Nguyen Trong family temple; the historical - cultural tradition of the Nam Trung and Nam Dan regions. In particular, the group of cultural tradition - mandarinate issues was focused on by the conference, especially the phenomenon of "the succession of mandarinate" of Nguyen Trong Thuong, Nguyen Trong Duong/Dang, Nguyen Trong Duong and many people who passed the Huong Cong/Bachelor exams.

Ms. Hoang Thi Quynh Anh - Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism affirmed that the organization of the workshop is to have a comprehensive view of the historical - cultural and scholarly traditions of the Nguyen Trong family, Trung Can, Nghe An.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Tu Anh - Director of Nghe An Provincial Library announced the reason for organizing the workshop.

On the other hand, in the field of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and China in the Middle Ages, the Nguyen Trong family in Trung Can village had 4 members participating in the diplomatic delegation, with 5 diplomatic missions to Qing, of which, Nguyen Trong Vu was the only person of the family to go on diplomatic missions twice.

The workshop also recorded many opinions and discussions to clarify scientific issues that have not yet reached consensus such as "three worlds of medicine, three worlds of envoys", "three worlds of five yellow flowers" ...

Speaking at the workshop, representatives of the Nguyen Trong and Trung Can clans expressed their gratitude for the attention of departments, agencies, authorities at all levels and scientific researchers. At the same time, they affirmed that the current generations of descendants of the Nguyen Trong clan in Trung Can village are always trying to maintain and promote the good traditions of their ancestors in the cause of building their homeland and country.
