This spring crop, Hung Nguyen planted 5,700 hectares of rice, of which the area of ​​high-quality rice varieties reached 2,300 hectares, an increase of 600 hectares compared to last spring crop, mainly AC5, Bac Thom, Huong Thom, Nang Xuan, Thien Uu 8, mostly concentrated in the outer and middle communes such as Hung Tay, Hung Dao, Hung Thang, Hung Xuan... On the early and late-flowering rice fields with very high yields, some outer communes such as Hung Trung achieved a yield of 70-75 quintals/ha, Hung Xuan, Hung Lam, Hung Tien communes achieved 66-70 quintals/ha with hybrid rice varieties ZZD01, Nghi Huong 2308, Khai Phong and BTE1...

According to the report of the district's Department of Agriculture, this winter-spring crop, Anh Son planted 3,321 hectares with a structure of 70% hybrid rice varieties, 30% pure rice; including selecting new and good varieties for production such as: Kinh Su Uu 1588, BTE1, Nghi Huong 305, Gia Loc 105, OM 545... At this time, Anh Son is harvesting early ripening rice, it is expected that by May 25, the district will finish harvesting and prepare the land for the crop.

In other localities in the province, the spring rice harvest has also entered the peak harvest stage. In Yen Thanh district, farmers have been harvesting since May 5, and up to now, nearly 40% of the area has been harvested. Short-term varieties such as Thien Uu 8 and hybrid rice LC270 in low-lying communes such as Nhan Thanh, Vinh Thanh, Phu Thanh... are being harvested urgently by people; it is expected that by May 25 at the latest, the entire district will finish harvesting the spring crop...

Other localities in Do Luong also started to harvest heavily; This year's spring crop, the whole district has 7,300 hectares of rice, including a number of new high-quality, high-yield varieties introduced such as Hoa Khoi 4, P6, Nghi Huong... Mr. Tran Doan Hung, Head of the District's Agriculture Department, said: Do Luong started harvesting spring rice 5 days ago, mainly focusing on the flooded summer-autumn rice areas of the communes at both ends of the district such as Thuong Son, Hien Son, Quang Son... The expected rice yield will reach approximately 60 quintals/ha, nearly 1 quintal/ha lower than last year's spring crop because this year's spring crop took place in warm weather conditions.

According to initial assessments across the province, although this year's rice yield is not as high as the 2014 spring crop, which had the highest yield ever, it is still a good crop. This result, in warm weather conditions, is thanks to the locality's proactive implementation of many effective measures. High-yield, high-quality varieties are focused on and put into production. Most farmers are intensively cultivating and applying effective techniques, in addition, the attention and care of the entire political system for spring crop production. The whole province has planted over 96 thousand hectares, including 15 thousand hectares of high-quality rice. So far, localities have harvested over 10 thousand hectares, mainly in Yen Thanh, Do Luong, Dien Chau, Quynh Luu districts... It is expected that by May 25, the harvest will be basically completed.

Mr. Truong Van Chau, Head of the Department of Crop Production - Department of Agriculture and Rural Development said: This year's spring crop yield cannot exceed that of the 2014 spring crop due to the impact of many objective factors, but this is still a good crop, with an average yield expected to reach 64 - 65 quintals/ha (approximately 1 quintal/ha lower than last year's spring crop); in localities such as Yen Thanh, it is expected to reach about 70 quintals/ha, Dien Chau about 68 - 69 quintals/ha, especially some areas in Nghia Dan reaching over 70 quintals/ha... From May 15, the whole province will start harvesting spring rice; in parallel with the harvest, localities will also simultaneously direct the focus on land preparation and early summer-autumn rice planting.
