Opening Ceremony of Duc Ong Temple

(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of May 4, the People's Committee of Quynh Tho commune (Quynh Luu) organized the opening ceremony of Duc Ong temple festival 2015.

This year's festival takes place over 2 days, May 4 and 5 (ie March 16 and 17 of the lunar calendar) with many rituals, the focus of which is the calling ceremony and the Duc Ong procession, consisting of 6 procession teams from Duc Ong Temple down to Lach Thoi gate, attracting thousands of people in the area to participate.

Duc Ong Temple in Tho Dong village, Quynh Tho commune has 3 rooms, a sanctuary with many valuable sacrificial objects such as an ancient bronze incense burner, other objects and 3 tombs of 3 fish gods.

Every time fishermen go out to sea, they burn incense and pray to the gods for a smooth trip and a boat full of fish and shrimp. At the same time, on the first and fifteenth day of every month, visitors from all over the world come to burn incense and pay tribute to the gods.
