Tightening links and promoting regional economic competitiveness
(Baonghean.vn) - At 9:00 a.m. on May 29, the first discussion session of the Local Meeting - Diplomatic Corps Conference took place with the theme "Potential for economic linkage in the North Central region and enhancing the region's competitiveness". Mr. Tran Hong Quang, Deputy Director of the Institute of Development Strategy, chaired the discussion session.
Speakers participating in the discussion included: Comrade Nguyen Xuan Duong - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Nghe An province; Comrade Dang Quoc Khanh - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ha Tinh province; Comrade Nguyen Ngoc Hoi - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Thanh Hoa province and Mr. Kostantin Vnukov - Ambassador of the Russian Federation.
At the discussion session, comrade Nguyen Xuan Duong said that the North Central region has a relatively complete infrastructure and has in common the potential for tourism, especially sea tourism with a long coastline and many beautiful beaches. In addition, the border with Laos is also a notable highlight and an advantage for the development of not only tourism but also economy and trade.

Comrade Dang Quoc Khanh highly agreed with the solution to improve regional connectivity through completing and upgrading the synchronous infrastructure network between provinces proposed by Comrade Nguyen Xuan Duong. At the same time, the Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ha Tinh province also said that it is necessary to promote administrative reform to create a favorable investment environment for businesses coming to the provinces in the region.
Comrade Nguyen Ngoc Hoi - Vice Chairman of Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee said that besides investing in infrastructure, special attention should be paid to education and training from primary to university and post-graduate levels. It is necessary to improve the awareness and quality of workers' skills to increase the competitiveness of the North Central provinces, maximizing their inherent natural potential.

Mr. Kostantin Vunkov - Ambassador of the Russian Federation said that regional cooperation in economic development is extremely necessary. Not only at the regional and provincial level, cooperation is the top policy of every country. He was also very happy to inform that in just a few hours, Vietnam will officially join the Eurasian Economic Union. Alliances and associations like this not only bring benefits to each member but also ensure stable development and enhance the position, influence and competitiveness of the whole bloc.
