Launching to respond to "National Week of Clean Water and Environmental Sanitation"

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of April 25, in Yen Thanh district, the Provincial People's Committee held a launching ceremony to respond to "National Clean Water and Environmental Sanitation Week 2015" and started the "Project to build a centralized clean water supply system and environmental sanitation for inter-communes of Long Thanh, Khanh Thanh, Vinh Thanh, Trung Thanh".

Attending the ceremony were comrade Dinh Viet Hong - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and leaders of relevant departments and branches along with many people of Yen Thanh district.

Implementing the National Strategy on Clean Water and Environmental Sanitation approved by the Prime Minister, the province has recently issued many policies to mobilize resources to invest in the construction of clean water supply works, sanitation works, livestock farms and rural environmental protection.

Along with that, local authorities and people in the province actively participated and did many practical things to effectively implement the National Target Program on clean water and environmental sanitation.

Up to now, in our province, more than 90% of rural people have access to clean water (according to the province's criteria), of which nearly 40% of people have access to clean water according to the standards set by the Ministry of Health and nearly 60% of families have toilets and clean livestock barns.

In localities, the movement to build green - clean - beautiful villages and hamlets has developed strongly, contributing to improving people's living conditions and changing the face of rural areas in the province.

Speaking at the launching ceremony, Mr. Dinh Viet Hong - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee acknowledged and highly appreciated the results of the National Target Program on Clean Water and Environmental Sanitation in the province in the past time and emphasized that in order to better implement this program in the coming time, it is necessary to focus on promoting propaganda work, raising people's awareness of clean water and environmental sanitation. In particular, focusing on replicating models of sustainable and effective management and use of centralized water supply works, diversifying forms of community mobilization to participate in the movement to build a green - clean - beautiful homeland, especially for people in highland and coastal areas, and focusing on activities such as: "Self-managed Youth Road", Youth Volunteer Team for a Green - Clean - Beautiful Environment", "For the Green of the Homeland" movement, "Green Sunday" ...

Also at the ceremony, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development held a groundbreaking ceremony for the project "Construction of a centralized clean water supply system and environmental sanitation for Long Thanh, Khanh Thanh, Vinh Thanh and Trung Thanh communes from a loan from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) with a total investment of 113. billion VND (of which 87% is from the loan from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and 13% is from counterpart funds from households connecting to use water from the project, local budget), including a water supply component of 102.7 billion VND, a sanitation component of 8.9 billion VND...
