FBI spokesman Chris Allen said on December 23 that the agency had sent warnings about the risk of an ISIS attack to local authorities and police. The Memphis-Arkansas Bridge, which ISIS might target, is a major route connecting the two US states of Tennessee and Arkansas, according to Reuters.

Chris Allen stated that the threat of attack was anonymous, and he did not specify when or how the FBI received it.

This warning was also reported by Fox 13. According to the report, an anonymous threat stated that ISIS had instructed a jihadist in Memphis to “blow up the Memphis-Arkansas bridge to provoke ISIS militants in the US.” The threat did not specify a date for the attack, according to Reuters.

The Islamic State (IS) organization currently poses a dangerous security threat in Iraq and Syria. The international community has repeatedly condemned IS's actions. Even more dangerously, there is growing information about foreigners from Asia, Europe, and the Americas joining this force, further increasing the danger posed by extremist actions.

The US and its allies are continuing to expand their airstrike campaign against ISIS targets in Iraq and Syria. Recently, US President Barack Obama declared that the goal is not only to weaken but to destroy this force.
