The second day of the Vietnam Idol audition round in the Southern region continued to be a long day for the four members of the judging panel as they had to endure many humorous, and even "disastrous" performances from many contestants.

Most of these performances showed the naivety or overconfidence of many contestants. There were times when all four judges had to hold their stomachs and cry with laughter, but there were also times when they had to frankly share and give feedback so that the contestants could understand whether they really had talent or not.

Like judge - musician Thanh Bui confided after witnessing a 'disastrous' performance: "The people around you who told you that you could sing were lying. When I saw you being so serious, I felt that I needed to tell you that you couldn't do it and it would be a waste of your time. You should focus on other areas of your life."

Rare unique auditions

Besides the funny performances, episode 3 of Vietnam Idol revealed some impressive auditions of many contestants with interesting qualities.

The most impressive contestant in this episode was the Vietnamese-German guy Nguyen Trong Hieu. Born in Germany, he still surprised the judges with his ability to speak his mother tongue fluently.

Originally a handsome dancer, Trong Hieu was not content to stand behind others and so pursued his passion for singing. With his audition, he convinced judges Thanh Bui and Thu Minh. Judge - director Nguyen Quang Dung praised his dancing ability, while musician Quoc Trung pointed out that Trong Hieu would have many limitations in his Vietnamese repertoire, but still praised the contestant's singing voice.

Hoang Thien Minh Tri, 28 years old, also had an emotional performance with the song "This Morning" by musician Luu Ha An. Although he showed a good voice, he seemed to have too much energy in his performance, to the point that judge Thu Minh said he was a bit "hyperactive" and needed to calm down to sing the song again.

However, this confidence of the guy conquered the judge Quoc Trung and this judge thought that if Minh Tri focused more, he could do more. Judge Thu Minh at first did not agree but was later convinced by the guy's sincerity.

Tran Hoang Yen, a senior student at the University of Economics in Ho Chi Minh City, convinced her parents to let her pursue her passion for music and had an impressive audition with the song "Please forgive me" which was previously performed successfully by Ho Ngoc Ha.

Hoang Yen's confidence and natural performance style, along with her deep, powerful voice, won over the judges and helped her secure the golden ticket to the next round.

Another female contestant with a rather impressive and rugged appearance, Pham Bao Ngoc, 22 years old from Ho Chi Minh City, also completely convinced all four judges with her excellent performance of the song Super Bass by famous rapper Nicki Minaj.
