Sports competition of ethnic minorities in Nghe An province
(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of April 15, in Quy Hop district, the Department of Culture - Sports and Tourism of Nghe An in coordination with the People's Committee of Quy Hop district organized the opening ceremony of the 2015 Nghe An province ethnic minority sports competition to celebrate the Vietnamese Ethnic Culture Day on April 19.

The competition was attended by 12 delegations with a total of nearly 250 athletes from 12 districts in the province: Ky Son, Con Cuong, Tuong Duong, Anh Son, Tan Ky, Quynh Luu, Nghia Dan, Thai Hoa Town, Quy Hop, Quy Chau and Que Phong. The delegations competed in men's and women's volleyball, men's and women's tug of war, men's and women's stick pushing, men's and women's crossbow shooting and shuttlecock throwing.

After the opening ceremony, the first competitions were men's and women's volleyball and shuttlecock throwing. In the men's volleyball tournament, the teams were divided into two groups and competed in a round-robin format, with each group selecting the top two teams to compete in the semi-finals. After the semi-finals, the two strongest teams would advance to the finals to determine the champion. For the women's volleyball teams, they competed in a round-robin format to determine the top, second, and third teams.
The remaining sports such as tug of war, stick pushing, crossbow shooting, and juggling are also competed in a knockout format.
