University isn't always the "best" university!

(Baonghean) - The national exam will take place soon. This year, high school graduation scores will be the benchmark for students applying to universities and colleges. While the number of applications to universities and colleges has decreased compared to previous years, it remains generally very high. It seems that sending children to university is still considered the main career path for many parents and students.

Striving to get into university is right, but the notion that only a university education guarantees a bright future is wrong. When choosing their future, each student needs to consider their own capabilities. Next, they need to assess whether their family's finances can support them throughout their university studies. And will they be able to find employment after graduation?

It's hard to deny that many families still cling to the "privileged mindset" of prioritizing appearances over their children's academic abilities, interests, and even the most promising future, as long as they can attend university, treating it as a mandatory requirement. This creates unnecessary pressure for both themselves and their children.

Many students have to keep retaking exams for several years, wasting time and money, only to fail to get into their main choice, and end up applying "temporarily" to some "university"!

While they were struggling with a field of study that didn't suit their aptitude and abilities, their peers, by assessing their capabilities and understanding societal needs, chose vocational training, graduated, found jobs, and earned stable incomes; and at this point, the path to university remained wide open for them.

To avoid wasting time and effort, career guidance is always extremely necessary. Helping high school seniors choose a career that matches their skills, interests, and societal needs is the responsibility of schools and society, but it is also a significant responsibility of families. Parents, in particular, need to diligently research accurate information about the labor market's demands to help their children assess their abilities and choose a suitable path. It's crucial to understand that a university education isn't the only path to a promising future!
