(Baonghean.vn) - This is the time when acacia and cajuput trees secrete honey from the young leaves. This is also the time when itinerant beekeepers start their business season.
These days, traveling on the Ho Chi Minh Highway, through Thanh Chuong and Tan Ky districts and the Khua and 22 routes of Yen Thanh district, it is easy to see honeybee farms nestled in acacia and cajuput forests. Some of the beekeepers are from Dak Lak, and some are local people.
According to the experience of bee owners, from April to August every year, Nghe An often has showers, creating favorable conditions for cajuput leaves to grow, which is also the time when acacia and cajuput trees secrete honey from the leaf crevices.
Wherever they go, beekeepers comply with regulations on forest protection, ensuring security and order... so they are facilitated by local authorities to practice their profession. It is known that the bee breed commonly raised is Italian bee. Every day, the bee colony collects honey from the young leaves. The beekeepers harvest honey every 7-10 days, and the honey products are imported to honey processing companies in the South, with a selling price of 40,000 VND/kg, after deducting expenses, the profit is 1/3 of the revenue.
Stopping at the bee farm of Mr. Nguyen Van Lap and Mr. Nguyen Van Thieu, both from Dak Lak, located in the acacia forest area on Khua road, Thinh Thanh commune, Yen Thanh district, we recorded some images of the daily work of the itinerant beekeeper, and learned that this job is full of fun but also no less difficult.
