Police shoot dead fan after championship-deciding match

The incident took place after the match between Kaizer Chiefs and Chippa United at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium, South Africa last weekend. This match Kaizer Chiefs won 2-0 and qualified for the national championship.
After the final whistle, many enthusiastic fans of the home team rushed onto the field to celebrate. One of them tried to grab a policeman's gun, leading to a serious incident.
“The unfortunate man attempted to grab the police officer’s gun. During the struggle, the gun went off, killing him,” the police statement after the fight said. Police have not yet identified the man.
In addition to one fatality, the chaotic post-match celebrations left many injured in clashes with police and between fans of both teams. It took security forces nearly an hour to restore order.
