Creating a bridge between production and consumption
(Baonghean) - In recent years, the system of department stores has developed quite a lot in rural areas, meeting the people's demand for essential goods. However, there are still shortcomings surrounding the distribution system; the market is potential but businesses have not taken advantage of the opportunity to develop...
Effective distribution channel
For more than 10 years now, in Tan Xuan hamlet, Xuan Thanh commune (Yen Thanh), Ms. Lieu has been attached to a grocery store. In this store, almost all goods serve the essential needs of life such as soap, MSG, needles, thread, and farming tools such as hoes, shovels, etc.
Ms. Lieu said: “In the past, my family often had to go to Vinh or Dien Chau to import goods. For about 3 years now, trucks have been coming to the store to import goods. If you are lacking any goods or any quantity, you can sit at home and call and get served on the spot. Not only my house but also in neighboring communes, many grocery stores have opened, thus serving the diverse needs of people in the area quite well.”

Xuan Thanh Commune has 12 hamlets, most of the people are farmers, the income of farmers is not high but has been raised compared to before and the concept of consumption has changed a lot. Although the commune is located near the town, many hamlets are 5 - 10 kilometers from the center of Yen Thanh Town, so if you shop in town, it will take time and cost money on gas. Therefore, the system of stores like Mrs. Lieu's is very convenient.
Coming to Quynh Nghia (Quynh Luu) on the occasion of April 30, many tourists chose Quynh beach as a resort. It is worth mentioning that along the road to the beach, there are many shops with a variety of goods, arranged and organized neatly. Talking to a seller at a mini supermarket in Quynh Nghia commune, it is known that recently, the lives of coastal people have changed a lot. Many families have children working abroad, while those at home have a good income from the sea, so consumer demand has increased. To promptly meet the market's demands, the commune has a mini supermarket to serve, due to the price of large volume imports, so the price has been reduced, attracting more people to shop.
According to statistics from the Quynh Luu Department of Industry and Trade, up to now, in addition to the market system, rural grocery stores have covered 100% of communes and towns, creating jobs for thousands of workers in the commercial distribution and circulation industry, and a rural market circulation network is being formed.
Similarly, in Nghia Dan, we also witnessed many changes in the red basalt land. In Nghia Binh, many shops and stores sprung up, sellers and buyers were bustling. Quite a few branded goods agents were built.
Talking to Mr. Nguyen Van Phu - a local who was buying electrical appliances and motorbike spare parts, he said that in the past, to buy steel to make a drying rack or a fan, people here had to go to town to buy it, but recently, goods coming to the area are becoming more and more abundant, especially Vietnamese goods, helping rural people access and use good quality products at reasonable prices.
Rural markets are still fertile ground for counterfeit goods to develop. |
Currently, in almost all districts and towns, the district town center and shops, stores, and agents are the “bridge” for production and consumption. People receive goods from businesses everywhere, and at the same time, gather agricultural products and goods of the people to the lowlands.
Currently, the distribution network of manufacturers has gradually penetrated deeper into the rural market. The network of purchasing goods produced in the areas through enterprises, agents, traders, and business households has developed to the villages, creating favorable conditions for people to consume products. Along with that, the rapid and diverse development of private retail stores in the area has contributed to promoting and promptly meeting the consumption needs of the people. The income gap between rural and urban areas in many districts is not too far. Therefore, rural consumers are also developing new consumption needs that are no different from those in urban areas, accordingly, the commercial infrastructure system in rural areas is having positive changes.
Ms. Vo Thi An, Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade, said: Recently, the appearance of convenience stores has helped people have the opportunity to buy domestically produced goods at the right price, ensuring quality. The commercial infrastructure in rural and mountainous areas of the province has been developed, businesses have focused on investing in distribution channels, so people have access to goods in general and Vietnamese goods in particular. The domestic market still has great opportunities and potential, however, we need to calculate to reorganize.
Exploiting the potential of rural areas
In the coastal communes of Quynh Luu district such as Quynh Bang, Quynh Minh, Son Hai, we see a bustling system of shops and stores. In Tuong Duong, because the mountainous area is sparsely populated, the market is far away, and does not open every day, grocery stores are where the locals go. The rural market is still a potential for all businesses, but not many businesses have exploited it. However, because the lives of people in the mountainous areas are still difficult, the use of high-quality goods at high prices is often beyond the people's ability. Therefore, this is a "fertile" land for many fake and counterfeit goods to thrive...
According to Ms. Hoang Thi My Ha, Head of Trade Management Department - Department of Industry and Trade, the system of stores in rural areas is growing, and this is the right direction that the industry is encouraging. However, it must be seen that although the opportunity is clear, not many businesses are able to grasp it. In addition, more attention should be paid to food hygiene and safety, counterfeit goods, and fake goods. In addition to the responsibility of management agencies, local authorities, and businesses, people themselves must be smart consumers to protect their rights.
The emergence of supermarket systems and retail stores in localities has helped rural people access consumer products more effectively. Although this is a very good market segment for development, the retail systems of enterprises in rural areas have not received much investment attention, and in some places they have been neglected. As with many mountainous areas with large land areas, sparse population, and difficult transportation, distribution and sales face many obstacles. Nghe An has more than 3 million people and most of the consumers are rural, but not many businesses pay attention to the rural market, most of them are still ignoring this potential market due to lack of information and thorough research on consumer habits here. Therefore, there needs to be support mechanisms and policies for the commercial system to be effective, connecting supply and demand. Along with that, there needs to be synchronous development of production, processing and consumption; from distribution channels: retail markets, wholesale and product distribution agent stores.
