Testing BoT1 rice variety in Yen Thanh

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of May 12, Yen Thanh District Agricultural Extension Station coordinated with the North Central Institute of Science and Technology to organize a field conference to evaluate the results of testing the BoT1 rice variety in the spring crop of 2015.

BoT1 rice variety is imported from Pakistan by the Vietnam Academy of Agricultural Sciences, selected and tested by the North Central Agricultural Sciences Institute in the North Central region.

Delegates visited the experimental model in Xuan Thanh commune - Yen Thanh.

In the 2015 Spring crop, the North Central Agricultural Sciences Institute coordinated with the Yen Thanh district agricultural extension station and a number of farming households to organize a trial planting of 0.5 hectares in the field of hamlet 9, Xuan Thanh commune.

This rice variety was planted on January 28, 2015. Through monitoring, it was shown that BoT1 rice variety grows strongly, is resistant to pests and diseases, has an average growth period, and an estimated yield of 67.34 tons/ha. It has quality, long grains, light aroma, and delicious rice quality, meeting the current market demand.

Through the workshop, delegates hoped to continue receiving attention from the North Central Agricultural Sciences Institute in helping Yen Thanh farmers access science and technology; at the same time, requesting the Yen Thanh Agriculture and Rural Development Department to evaluate and draw lessons from rice variety models, recommending that people apply them widely, aiming at commodity production, increasing income, contributing to the effective implementation of the agricultural restructuring project./.
