*On the morning of June 20th, the Chau Hanh Commune Party Committee held its 21st Party Congress for the 2015-2020 term.

The delegates performed the flag-raising ceremony.

Over the past five years, the Party Committee, government, and people of the commune have leveraged their internal strengths and the tradition of unity of their heroic revolutionary homeland, overcoming difficulties and achieving many positive results. The entire Party Committee admitted 52 new members. Based on evaluation and classification, the number of Party branches achieving the "clean and strong" status annually reached 68.1% or higher; the commune's Party Committee has consistently performed well for five consecutive years, including three consecutive years (2011-2013) achieving the "clean and strong" status.

During the past term, the commune prioritized the transformation of crop structure and the implementation of commodity production models, resulting in a per capita income of 18.5 million VND/person/year; school facilities, health stations, and rural infrastructure were strengthened; cultural and social affairs, education and training developed; national defense and security were maintained; the political system remained stable; people's lives improved, and the poverty rate decreased to 38.56%, a 17% reduction compared to the beginning of the term. Chau Hanh commune has now achieved 11 out of 19 criteria for building new rural areas.

Voting to elect delegates to attend the higher-level Party Congress.

During the new term from 2015 to 2020, the Congress set forth 22 main objectives, including striving to achieve the new rural standard by 2020; achieving an average per capita production value of 36 million VND/year; strongly shifting the economic structure from agriculture and forestry to 51.6%; industry, handicrafts, and construction to 32.5%; and trade and services to 15.9%; ensuring 100% of schools are solidly built and maintain their status as national standard schools; achieving the title of "Cultural Village" for 75-78% of hamlets; ensuring 80% of Party branches are clean and strong; and ensuring 90-95% of Party members complete their tasks well or better...

At the Congress, delegates elected 14 comrades to the new term of the Commune Party Committee and elected a delegation of 16 comrades to attend the Quy Chau District Party Congress.

Overview of the congress

During the past term, the Nghi Thuy Ward Party Committee effectively carried out the work of disseminating, understanding, and implementing resolutions of the Party at all levels. In the economic field, the Party Committee formulated many policies closely aligned with the local reality, resulting in a relatively high growth rate. The total production value at the end of the term reached 590.1 billion VND, of which tourism accounted for 286.5 billion VND, industry and construction nearly 149 billion VND, and agriculture, forestry, and fisheries 154.8 billion VND, with an average annual production value increase of 7.3%. Social and cultural aspects have seen many positive developments, especially the movement for national unity in building a new life in residential areas, which has received widespread and active participation. To date, the percentage of culturally exemplary families has reached 92%, an increase of 3% compared to the beginning of the term. Political security and social order have always been ensured.

The Congress focused on clarifying the achievements and limitations of the past term, discussing and adopting resolutions for the next term, and electing the Executive Committee for the 6th term, as well as electing delegates to the 5th Party Congress of the town, for the 2015-2020 term.
