(Baonghean) - Dong Van commune is a remote area with the largest natural area and population in Tan Ky district (population of more than 12,000 people). During the 2010 - 2015 term, the locality has strived to achieve many positive results in the socio-economic field. Regarding the economy, the average growth rate over the past 5 years reached 12.53%; the economic structure has shifted towards reducing the proportion of agriculture, forestry and fishery; by 2015, the total average food per capita is estimated to reach 527 kg/year, the average income is more than 13 million VND/person/year.

The locality has gradually reclaimed and expanded the area of ​​production land; the total area of ​​production land in 2010 was 1,329 hectares, and by 2015 it had increased to 2,220 hectares; the main structure was short-term crops such as rice, sugarcane, cassava, corn, etc. People have gradually approached scientific and technological advances and new varieties, so crop productivity has been increasingly improved. The livestock industry continues to develop, rapidly increasing the total herd of buffalo and cows and the rate of cattle herd sind. In the area, many production models with high economic efficiency have appeared, gradually forming specialized concentrated areas.

Increasing investment in building the socio-economic infrastructure system, the rural appearance has improved a lot, creating trust among the people. Up to now, the whole commune has 20.5 km of district roads passing through the commune; 10.5 km of inter-commune roads and 106.4 km of inter-village roads; of which 7 km of roads are asphalted and concreted. With many sources of investment capital from the State, Dong Van has been building and upgrading many welfare works such as: schools at all levels, medical stations, communal cultural houses, offices; building a central market in the commune cluster... Many irrigation works such as dams, canals and ditches have also received attention from the locality in investment, construction and upgrading, meeting the irrigation needs for production.

Education - training, health, population, culture, physical education and sports continue to develop comprehensively, from facilities, teaching equipment; the quality of teachers, medical staff... is increasingly improved in professional expertise. The number of students achieving excellent results at the district and provincial levels is increasing (in the past 5 years, 376 students achieved excellent results at the district level, 10 students achieved excellent results at the provincial level). The apparatus for population and family planning work has been consolidated and improved from commune to hamlet. In 2015, the Commune Health Station was recognized as meeting the criteria of a national standard commune in health. The cultural, physical education and sports movement has received local attention, creating a healthy and practical playground for young people, such as: Building many soccer and volleyball fields from commune to hamlet, serving the spiritual life and sports training of all classes of people in the area.

Party building is the top priority of the Party Committee; each Party cell admits 1-2 new Party members per year, creating conditions for Party members to study and improve their political theory and professional skills. Up to now, there are no weak Party organizations. The Fatherland Front and mass organizations operate more and more effectively; national defense and security are maintained.

Talking about the orientation of socio-economic development in the new term 2015 - 2020, the Party Secretary of the commune - comrade Truong Van Duc said: The achievements of the past term are the foundation for Dong Van to further develop in all fields in the next term, with the goal of striving to bring the locality out of the state of slow development, soon becoming a well-off commune of the district. To achieve that goal, the Party Committee has oriented the basic issues: Promoting all potentials and advantages in human resources, land, resources, creating comprehensive development, in which the economy is the focus. Mobilizing maximum internal resources, attracting good external resources, focusing on investment in socio-economic development, in which focusing on building small industrial parks and central markets of commune clusters. Pay attention to supporting disadvantaged areas, especially ethnic minorities, creating specialized areas for suitable crops, to increase economic value per unit area, improve the efficiency of household economy, farm economy, forest gardens... associated with the new rural construction program.

The main targets set by the Dong Van Party Committee in the coming term are: Annual growth rate of 11.5%. Economic structure towards industry - service - trade - agriculture. Average income per capita by 2020 is 18,211 thousand VND; employment creation, labor export of 570 people. 5/6 schools meet national standards. The average poverty rate decreases by 2 - 3% annually. The rate of families meeting cultural standards by 2020 is from 75 - 80%; 13 - 15 hamlets are recognized as cultural hamlets. The rate of malnourished children under 5 years old is 5%, the rate of giving birth to the third child or more is reduced to 12%, over 95% of children under 1 year old are fully vaccinated. The rate of households using hygienic water is 70%... Implementing well the movement of the whole people to protect national security. Strive to achieve 14/19 criteria for building new rural areas by 2020. The political system is increasingly operating in depth, striving to build a clean and strong Party organization.

With the determination of clear and specific directions and goals, along with high solidarity and determination within the Party, the active participation of the government and the high consensus and support of the people, it is hoped that Dong Van will create a socio-economic highlight in the region, soon escaping the district's slow development status.
