Despite having lived together for 27 years, the couple said they have no regrets about only now deciding to get married.

According to AFP, George Kirby and Doreen Luckie held a wedding ceremony in England on June 13, becoming the oldest couple in the world to get married.

Both looked radiant at their wedding, held at a hotel in the town of Eastbourne, in southern England, in the presence of family and friends.

At the wedding, the elderly woman wore a white dress with blue flowers, while the elderly man, a former boxer, wore a suit and sat in a wheelchair with the logo of the London 2012 Paralympic Games, because he had fallen a few days before the wedding.

With a combined age of 194, the couple surpassed the previous record of 191 years held by French couple Francois Fernandez and Madeleine Francineau.

Speaking before the wedding, Mrs. Luckie said that the couple had no regrets about not getting married sooner: "We didn't think about this before, but now we're married."

The couple currently has 7 children, 15 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren.

The couple got engaged on February 14th, and Mr. Kirby recalled, "I didn't get down on my knees to propose because I didn't think I'd be able to get up afterward."

Mrs. Luckie said that friends and family were not surprised by their decision.

"They all know George and I have been happy together for many years," the couple shared, adding that they haven't yet decided where they will go on their honeymoon.
