Success through passion

Born into a large family with difficult circumstances in Nam Lam commune (Nam Dan), in 2001, after graduating from high school, Nguyen Van Hanh stayed home to farm with his parents. In 2003, he applied to work as a worker at Hoang Thi Loan Textile Joint Stock Company.

After 6 months of training by the company, Mr. Hanh was assigned to operate the machine in the combing department. He researched and explored the machine's operating process to approach complex technical operations, mastering the technology and improving labor productivity. He regularly reviewed the process, promptly detected possible errors and communicated them to new workers. "Because the department I work in is the first step in mixing raw materials to create finished products, all errors must be completely prevented. Therefore, we must always try, proactively grasp and learn from experience to improve our skills," said Mr. Hanh. With those tireless efforts, for 3 consecutive years (2011, 2013, 2014), he won first and second prizes in the Skill Competition organized by the company. In 2014, he was one of two workers of Hoang Thi Loan Textile Joint Stock Company who were recognized by the Provincial Youth Union as outstanding young workers. Currently, Mr. Hanh has achieved level 5/6 skills.

Not only is he a good worker, Mr. Hanh is also an active Secretary of the Youth Union and has made many contributions to the Youth Union activities of Hoang Thi Loan Textile Joint Stock Company. Dream of becoming a good mechanical engineer

Nguyen Dai Nhan was born and raised in Nam Kim commune (Nam Dan). After graduating from high school, Nhan decided to study Mechanical Engineering at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering (CKCT) of Vinh University of Technology and Education, which was both close to home and satisfied his passion for machinery.

Entering school with many plans and cherished dreams, without wasting any time, the boy born in 1993 focused on studying. Being intelligent, diligent, hard-working and ambitious, each semester Nhan received scholarships from the school and other organizations. In 2014, when he was a third-year student, teacher Pham Dinh Quang confidently selected Nhan to be on the national vocational training team, Mechanical Engineering Design - CAD. At the exam, Nguyen Dai Nhan excellently won the Third Prize in Mechanical Engineering Design - CDA (no Second Prize) at the 8th National Vocational Competition - 2014 held in Hanoi.

Not only is Dai Nhan a good student, he also actively participates in the school's Youth Union and Association activities and was elected as the President of the 6th University of Mechanical Engineering class, then Vice President of the Student Union of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Member of the Executive Committee of the School's Student Union, Vice President of the "Lighting up the Knowledge of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering" Club. The "5 Good Students" is also very passionate about sports, knows how to play the guitar and sings very well, and won the Second Prize in the Solo Singing Contest for Students of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering.

At the end of 2014, through an interview, Dai Nhan was honored to receive a scholarship with 4 other students from Vinh University of Technology and Education for the student exchange program with Koreatech University (Korea). At the end of February 2015, Nhan went to Korea to study. From Korea, Nhan shared: “I always think that university is not the only way to success in establishing a career. With the current situation of “too many teachers, not enough workers”, job opportunities for students at vocational schools are very large. In the future, I want to be a real mechanical engineer, so that I can create useful and practical products for life.”

"Knowledge, skills and heart..."

Born in 1978, graduated from Hanoi Law University in 2000, before becoming Director of the Legal Consulting Center, Hoang Thu Huong worked for 3 years as a general staff member and 6 years as a legal consultant at the Legal Consulting Office (under the Economic - Policy Department, Provincial Labor Federation). With the responsibilities and duties of a legal consultant, Hoang Thu Huong has been present at almost all strikes that occurred in the province. She shared: "We are responsible for providing on-site advice to district and industry unions; unions and the Management Board of the Southeast Economic Zone; Management Boards of industrial parks; authorities at all levels... are organizations participating in resolving strikes on the resolution process and the Law on Content (mainly related to labor laws, social insurance). In addition, we grasp the thoughts and aspirations of workers to provide the right directions and promptly resolve strikes in accordance with the provisions of law...".

It is simple to say, but there are times when dialogues between workers and employers reach a deadlock, and she herself has to directly advise workers at the dialogue. The strike of more than 2,600 workers of Matrix Company Limited (Bac Vinh Industrial Park) in May 2012 is a typical example. This strike lasted for many days, became a "hot spot" and even broke out. Ms. Hoang Thu Huong recalled: "When the strike happened, the leaders of Matrix Company Limited refused to dialogue, announced the closure of the enterprise for 3 days (from May 21-24), thousands of workers broke down the iron gate and rushed into the office, some people had to be hospitalized...". After the strike resolution team came to work, the leaders of Matrix Company Limited had a dialogue with the striking workers. The dialogue then broke down, the situation was extremely heated. To reduce the "heat" of the workers, Huong met with the workers and said: "Are you on strike to petition for the settlement of your rights or are you on strike to force the business to close down? If you want to demand your legitimate rights, let the union advise you..." The striking workers then realized that they had pushed the matter too far and agreed. With direct advice from the union representative, the following dialogue had good results, the workers returned to work...

In order to support the legitimate and legal rights and interests of union members, and at the same time, contribute to raising awareness and sense of law compliance of union members and workers, in July 2014, the Provincial Federation of Labor decided to establish a Legal Consulting Center and Hoang Thu Huong was appointed as director. Although operating for only a short time, the young female director and the center's staff have conducted dozens of consultation sessions to propagate and disseminate the law to workers; many times participated with departments and branches to inspect and supervise the implementation in enterprises. Since then, many labor disputes have been resolved,... Asked: What are the conditions for union officials to contribute to resolving strikes well? Director Hoang Thu Huong answered: "It is necessary to have legal knowledge, skills to respond appropriately and promptly in situations that arise, and one thing that is very important is a heart for workers...".
