(Baonghean.vn)- On the night of May 16, at Ho Chi Minh Square (Vinh City - Nghe An), the Ministry of Culture, Sports & Tourism and the People's Committee of Nghe An province held the opening ceremony of the 2015 National Lotus Village Festival.
Attending the opening ceremony were comrades: Nguyen Sinh Hung, Politburo member, Chairman of the National Assembly; Truong Vinh Trong, former Politburo member, former Deputy Prime Minister; Uong Chu Luu, Party Central Committee member, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly; Nguyen The Trung, Party Central Committee member, Deputy Standing Committee of the Central Mass Mobilization Commission; Nguyen Xuan Thang, Party Central Committee member, Director of the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences; Nguyen The Ky, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department; together with leaders of central ministries, branches, leaders of provinces and centrally-run cities; delegates from Laos and Thailand.

The 2015 Lotus Village Festival is held nationwide to celebrate the 125th birthday of President Ho Chi Minh. The highlight of this year's Lotus Village Festival is the Lotus Village Singing Festival with the participation of 35 art troupes from provinces across the country and the 2015 Central Ethnic Culture Festival with 7 troupes participating. In particular, there are two art troupes from Xieng Khouang Province (Laos) and Nakhon Phanom (Thailand) in localities in the province.
In addition, the festival also features many other activities such as an art and photography exhibition with the theme "Studying and following the moral example of Ho Chi Minh"; a procession of Uncle Ho's photos through the ages from Ho Chi Minh Square to Kim Lien Relic Site; a large-scale propaganda painting exhibition on the theme of Uncle Ho; traditional cultural and artistic festivals and sports in localities such as Nam Dan and Thanh Chuong, etc.
