Accordingly, at around 3:30 p.m. on May 16, 3 students of Quynh Thuan Primary School, Bui Quang Thanh; Vu Van Huynh; Vu Van De, all 5B students of Quynh Thuan Primary School (Quynh Luu) invited each other to go to Cong Hoa beach, Quynh Long commune to swim, unfortunately drowned, the incident was discovered by a local resident, however, when this resident swam out to the water to save the 3 children, it was too late, all 3 children were drowned by the waves.

Upon receiving the news, the authorities were present at the scene to find the bodies of the three students. By 5:00 p.m. the same day, the search and rescue forces of Quynh Long and Quynh Thuan communes and their families had still not found the bodies of the three students.

It is known that Vu Van Huynh and Vu Van De are twin brothers in the same family.
