Giving livestock to support poor disabled households in Quynh Lam commune, Quynh Luu district. |
Currently, in Quynh Luu district, there are still many disabled people and poor and near-poor children who need the sharing and support of the whole society to study culture, learn a trade, create jobs, and support capital for production and livestock raising. In order to gradually and effectively implement the 50-50/20 Program launched by the Provincial Association for the Protection of People with Disabilities and Orphans, along with the motto "giving a fishing rod is better than giving a string of fish", since the beginning of the year, Quynh Luu District Association has raised and supported 300 million VND in funds. From the fund, the District Association has allocated 195 million VND to support the purchase of 39 breeding buffaloes and cows for people with disabilities with the aim of eliminating hunger and reducing poverty associated with the national target program for new rural construction. Thereby, initially creating trust and the will to strive for disabled households, helping them truly rise up and escape poverty sustainably.
Mr. Bui Manh Hung, Chairman of the Association for the Protection of People with Disabilities and Orphans in Quynh Luu District, added: “The 50-50/20 program has reached families with disabilities and orphans in the district. The subjects are all very excited and see the practical and concrete value of this activity. Some communes have done a good job of propaganda and mobilization to raise funds from 50 to 60 million VND; opening up many prospects for the movement to escape poverty in each locality, especially for the disabled and orphans...”.
The 50-50/20 program not only helps people with disabilities and orphans have the opportunity to participate in production and generate income for their families, but also contributes to changing the awareness and perception of people around them towards people with disabilities in helping and encouraging them to improve their lives.
