Colombian military plane crash kills 11

A Colombian military plane crashed in northern Cesar province, killing all 11 soldiers on board.

A statement from the Colombian Air Force said the crash yesterday may have been caused by a technical problem, according to Reuters.

The crashed plane was found near the town of Codazzi, about 600 km northeast of the capital Bogota, near the border with Venezuela.

AFP said Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos expressed his condolences to the victims' families and called them "heroes" on his Twitter account.

The defense minister and the commander of the Colombian armed forces also sent condolences to the families of the soldiers killed. General Carlos Bueno, commander of the Air Force, said an investigation team had been sent to the scene, according to CNN.
