Three members of Bin Laden family killed in plane crash in UK

(Baonghean.vn) - On Saturday, August 1, British police said three members of the family of former al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden were killed when a private plane crashed in southern England.

The Phenom 300 plane was carrying four people, including three passengers and a pilot, as it was flying from Milan's Malpensa airport to Blackbushe airport in southern England when it crashed. All on board were killed. British police said three more passengers were travelling to Britain.

"We believe the three people who died were all members of the bin Laden family, but post-mortem examinations are still underway," Hampshire Police said in a statement.

Media reports said the victims included bin Laden's sister, her husband and mother. Saudi-owned al-Arabiya television named the dead as Sana 'Mohamed bin Laden, her husband Zuhair Hashem and her mother Raja 'Hashem.

The Saudi ambassador to the UK sent his condolences to the bin Laden family on the embassy's Twitter account. He said the embassy was working with the British authorities to investigate the crash and ensure the swift transfer of the victims' bodies for funerals and burials in the kingdom.
