Upon receiving the news that Hoang Anh Tai from Yen Son Commune (Do Luong), a former student of Ly Nhat Quang Secondary School, had won a silver medal in the International Mathematics Competition, a medal that Nghe An had been waiting for for 18 years, we visited the secondary school where he had studied. It is difficult to describe the joy, excitement and pride of the teachers and students of the school at that good news. Because Tai was discovered and trained by the teachers here to become a "tree" of Mathematics of Do Luong, with the opportunity to shine. In the 2014-2015 school year, Tai won the second prize in the National Mathematics Competition with Nguyen Anh Tu, Thai Ba Manh, Nguyen Tat Tuan, and Nguyen Van Tam, young talents of the school with a long tradition of Ly Nhat Quang. During their years at the school, they were trained intensively by teachers and "tested by fire" with exams of a large scale. With the support of teachers and his own efforts, Tai and dozens of other excellent students of the school continuously won first and second prizes in the provincial excellent student competition.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong Kien, Principal of the school, said: “The reason why the school's excellent students are always in the top of the province is because right from the recruitment process to grade 6, the school has been very serious in selecting students who really meet the requirements. At the same time, the school pays great attention to developing students' strengths, thereby providing specialized training to help talented students have the opportunity to develop”. Therefore, over the past time, Ly Nhat Quang Secondary School has always been in the top of the province in terms of the quality of excellent students. In the past 5 years, there have been 1,409 excellent students, of which 351 students have achieved provincial excellent students with 13 students winning first prizes, 63 students winning second prizes, 103 students winning third prizes; especially in the national excellent student competition, the school has 34 students winning high prizes.

In recent times, the education sector of Do Luong district has achieved very good, comprehensive and even results among all levels of education because in addition to Ly Nhat Quang Secondary School, Do Luong 1 High School has always maintained the rate of students passing the university entrance exam and has many valedictorians and salutatorians. These results are thanks to the close direction of the superior sector in implementing policies on fundamental and comprehensive education innovation according to Resolution 9 of the Central Committee. In the 10th grade entrance exam, the district had the second highest average score in the province, especially in the 2011-2012 school year, Do Luong ranked first; in 5 years, there have been 1,453 excellent students in the province; the number of students passing the entrance exam to colleges and universities has increased gradually every year.

"Good students must have good teachers" - Head of the Department of Education Nguyen Tat Tay proudly talks about the staff and teachers of the district. He also said: During the past term, the district's education sector has continuously focused on building a team of teachers and managers. With the management team, the sector has selected, planned and rotated teachers who are truly experienced, good at their profession and creative in management work. A typical example is Principal Nguyen Thi Hong Kien, Ly Nhat Quang Secondary School, she was transferred from the Department of Education and during her work at the department, she had many initiatives and experiences in management work.

When she took up her duties at this traditional school, her main concern was to maintain the traditional leading flag of both advanced and mass training. And a series of methods were applied by her such as innovating teaching and learning methods to ensure comprehensiveness in interdisciplinary knowledge; ensuring the quality of lessons and subjects that direct students to the center or directing professional groups to organize discussions by subject groups. In the 2014-2015 school year, the school had 2 lesson plans competing in interdisciplinary integrated teaching, 1 lesson plan competing at the Ministry of Education and Training won the third prize. "Innovating management and improving the quality of education", the management team of the industry has been very creative in carrying out the task of school management and building a team of teachers. Therefore, schools have implemented well 3 publicity, 4 inspection, and practicing democracy in units is increasingly improved.

In addition, the teaching staff in the district has been constantly growing in both quantity and quality. If in the 2010-2011 school year, 98% of teachers met the standards, of which 80.3% were above the standards, then up to now, the whole sector has had 100% of teachers meeting the standards, of which 90.2% were above the training standards (an increase of 10%). Through the competitions for excellent teachers in the whole sector, there have been 63 more teachers achieving this title, of which 2 comrades achieved the title of excellent teachers at the national level.

In 5 years, 73 initiatives were recognized at the industry and provincial levels. In particular, 3 SKKN topics were recognized with the Provincial Science and Technology Innovation Award, typically the topic "Building a specialized system to foster excellent Math students in grade 9" by teacher Nguyen Thi Hong Kien and a group of secondary school Math teachers in 2011. And, from the emulation movements to teach well, learn well in the whole district, a new spirit has been aroused in the school. All schools have been struggling to find solutions to improve the quality of comprehensive education, in order to reduce the number of weak students and rapidly increase the number of excellent students at all levels.

The whole district has built 25 schools that meet level 1 and level 2 standards. Notably, at this time, there are 62 primary schools that meet the standards, one of three districts in the province with 100% of primary schools meeting this criterion. Talking about the emulation movement of good teaching and good learning in Do Luong, Vice Chairman of the District People's Committee Nguyen Minh Hanh proudly said: "In the emulation movement of good teaching and good learning, many collectives of school staff and teachers have emerged who are united, creative, and determined to improve the quality of education. Therefore, Do Luong is now called the land of learning and the people of Do Luong are even more proud when with that tradition they have been and are stepping up to the stage of glory".
