(Baonghean.vn) - On July 22, the Fundraising Committee for the Poor and the Provincial Relief Committee held a conference to review activities in the first six months of the year and implement tasks for the last six months.

During the first six months of the year, the members of the Campaign Committee worked actively and effectively. Implementing the Central and provincial policies on caring for the poor during the Lunar New Year of the Goat, the Campaign Committee coordinated with the provincial radio and television station to organize a live television broadcast titled "Tet for the Poor," resulting in nearly 32 billion VND in donations in cash and in kind from individuals and organizations. They distributed 65,531 gift packages to poor households in the province, totaling over 36 billion VND, of which over 5.45 billion VND came from provincial sources, over 13.4 billion VND from direct donations by agencies and businesses, and 17.155 billion VND from local sources. Local authorities promptly distributed Tet gifts to recipients, helping the poor have a warm and joyful Tet holiday.

Regarding the activities of the Fund for the Poor, in the past 6 months, it has received 13/18 billion VND registered with the Central Government, reaching 72%. From the mobilized funds, 231 new houses have been built, 58 houses have been repaired, 623 poor people have received medical treatment, 1,281 poor students have received educational support, and production models have been built for 704 poor households…

At the summary meeting, members of the Steering Committee also contributed many ideas to make the activities of the Day for the Poor and relief work increasingly effective, such as: supporting poor households to escape poverty sustainably through production models, allocating funds to purchase medicine for free medical examinations and treatment, etc.

The Steering Committee has set out tasks for the last six months of the year, focusing on the following issues: strengthening propaganda work, building and replicating advanced models among those who have risen out of poverty. It also urges agencies, units, and businesses that have registered to transfer funds to the State Treasury early so that the Steering Committee can plan the disbursement...
