Raising legal awareness for religious dignitaries and followers
(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of July 13, in Vinh city, the Government Committee for Religious Affairs coordinated with the People's Committee of Nghe An province to organize a conference to disseminate the law to the team of dignitaries, monks, and religious followers operating in the province. Attending were Mr. Nguyen Khac Huy - Head of the Department of Legal Inspection (Government Committee for Religious Affairs); Representatives of the Provincial Party Committee's Mass Mobilization Committee and related departments, branches and sectors.

Nghe An currently has two main religions: Buddhism and Catholicism with 365 Catholic places of worship, more than 40 Buddhist pagodas; 141 priests, about 260,000 parishioners and 40,000 Buddhist followers.

Mr. Nguyen Khac Huy - Head of the Legal Inspection Department (Government Committee for Religious Affairs) hopes that through this conference, each participating dignitary and follower will become a legal reporter in each religious organization, promoting their role and responsibility to society in the process of participating in religious activities. |
The conference also spent time answering delegates' concerns and questions about issues related to practical religious activities, as well as the implementation of the Ordinance on Belief and Religion and legal documents at the grassroots level, State management of religious activities and the fight against activities that take advantage of religion.

Through the conference, dignitaries, monks and followers of religions will have a better understanding of the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws on beliefs and religions; and raise legal awareness of religious activities. On that basis, comply with the law, respect and cooperate with the government to best ensure the freedom of religious belief of religious people; promote the positive role of religions, contributing to the cause of building and developing the country and homeland./.
