Submarine sunk off Swedish coast from World War I
The Swedish military is almost certain that a wreck found off the country's east coast is a Russian submarine that sank in 1916.
The Russian submarine off the eastern coast of Sweden sank in 1916 when it collided with a Swedish ship in poor visibility, killing all 18 sailors on board, local media reported, citing the Swedish military.

Ocean X Team, a wreck-hunting company, sent footage of the submarine to the Swedish military. Cyrillic letters on the hull indicated it was Russian.
"I am 99.9% sure that it sank in 1916. The next step is to dive again and confirm this," Reuters quoted Dennis Asberg, partner at Ocean X Team, as saying.
In October 2014, Sweden mobilized warships, minesweepers, helicopters and more than 200 soldiers to search the area off the coast of Stockholm for a week after a photo of an object suspected to be a submarine of unknown origin was sent to the Swedish Ministry of Defense. During that time, the Swedish media exaggerated the incident, claiming that it was a Russian ship.
