Russian media reports: Vietnam is buying Su-35s.
After surprising the public with news that Vietnam was purchasing Su-30SMs, Russian media then published information suggesting that Vietnam might receive Su-35s in 2020.
What is Vietnam's choice?
According to Lenta (Russia) on July 14, by 2020, Russia will deliver approximately 60 Su-35 fighter jets to customers in Venezuela, Indonesia, and Vietnam.
At the same time, Russia will also hand over another 24 Su-35s to China.
Lenta reported this information, citing a statement from Polet (Flight, Russia), a manufacturer of aviation communication systems.
Accordingly, over the next four years, the Russian Ministry of Defense will order a total of 96 Su-35s, and four foreign customers will also receive this 4++ generation fighter jet.
Currently, Polet is producing the C-107-1 avionics system, installed on the Russian Air Force's Su-35 fighter jets, and the C-108 export version.
According to the plan, by 2020, Polet will deliver 96 C-107-1 systems to the Russian Air Force, 24 C-108 systems to China, and 60 systems to Vietnam, Venezuela, and Indonesia. Currently, Polet has completed the contract to supply equipment for 48 Su-35 aircraft of the Russian Air Force.

Before publishing information about Vietnam's purchase of Su-35s, in late May 2015, Russian media caused surprise by suggesting that Vietnam would be the next customer for the Su-30SM fighter jet.
This information was reported by the Russian website Vpk-news.ru. Specifically, India will train Su-30 pilots for the Vietnamese Air Force before the end of 2015.
Furthermore, Viktor Dmitrievich Kuznetsov, General Director of AVIAPROM (the coordinating unit for technical cooperation between aviation industrial complexes of the Russian Federation), personally confirmed that IRKUT will be the supplier of new fighter aircraft for Vietnam.
The source added that a fighter jet based on the Su-30SM or Su-30MKI has come under consideration by the Vietnamese Air Force. However, it is highly likely that Vietnam will choose the Su-30SM version with most components manufactured in Russia, rather than the Su-30MKI.
Which customer received the Su-35 first?
Currently, Russia has not delivered any Su-35s to foreign customers, but potential customers mentioned in the Russian press recently include China, India, Indonesia, and Pakistan.
On April 2nd, RIA Novosti quoted the Deputy Director of Rosoboronexport, Sergei Goreslavsky, as saying that the Indonesian Ministry of Defense has confirmed that it is conducting initial negotiations with Russia regarding the purchase of Su-35 fighter jets.
According to Sergei Goreslavsky, the Indonesian delegation reaffirmed this information at the LIMA 2015 arms exhibition recently held in Langkawi, Malaysia.
"Determination Minister Ryamizard Ryacudu did not hide Indonesia's interest in the Su-35 multirole fighter during the exhibition," said Sergei Goreslavsky.

Reportedly, this is not the first time Indonesia has publicly expressed its interest in Russian weapons. Previously, on the sidelines of the Aero India-2015 exhibition held in Bangalore, India in mid-February 2015, the Commander of the Indonesian Air Force, General Agus Supriatna, expressed his hope that Russia would soon decide on the transfer of Su-35 fighter jets to the Indonesian Air Force.
Although Indonesia and Russia have not disclosed further information, positive signals from both sides suggest that the deal will quickly be successful due to the goodwill of both parties.
Not only Indonesia, but also India has now reached important agreements in the Su-35 deal with Russia, while China is still at a standstill in negotiations with Russia on this matter.
In early April 2015, the Global Times (China), citing the Russian website "Sputnik," reported that Alexander Fomin, head of the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation of Russia, stated that China and Russia were discussing the supply of Su-35 fighter jets, but no agreement had been signed yet.
Previously, Moscow and Beijing signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the supply of Su-35 fighter jets to China. The respective negotiations had lasted for many years.
Meanwhile, according to the American website "Defense News," Russia has signed an agreement with India to cooperate in the research and development of a super Su-35 fighter jet.
A Russian military expert revealed that Moscow and New Delhi have agreed to deploy design work on an improved fifth-generation version of the Su-35 (as claimed by Russia) in India, with the aim of developing a special version specifically for India. The name of this improved fighter jet is Su-35S.
