(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of August 31, in Tan Son commune, Do Luong district, a seminar was held on Thien Uu 8 rice variety of the Central Seed Joint Stock Company.

Thien Uu 8 rice variety was tested in the summer-autumn crop in Tan Son and Thinh Son communes with an area of ​​40 hectares, of which Tan Son commune had 30 hectares with 195 farmer households participating in planting. This is a new rice variety licensed by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development with a growing period 5-6 days longer than Khang Dan rice variety.

After the process of planting and fertilizing, up to now, the entire area of ​​Thien Uu 8 rice has begun to ripen, with an average yield of over 6 tons/ha. The advantage of pure Thien Uu 8 rice is that it is suitable for Do Luong soil, the plants are strong, moderate height; good resistance, quite resistant to pests such as striped caterpillars, blast and white rice leaf blight.

Through experimental and mass planting in many communes, it has been shown that Thien Uu 8 rice variety is superior to Khang Dan rice variety. It is known that this rice variety has been put into production in many communes of Do Luong with an area of ​​nearly 500 hectares./.
