Worthy of being a school from our hometown, Lang Do.
(Baonghean) - Entering the new school year 2015-2016, teachers and students of Hung Dung Secondary School (Hung Dung Ward, Vinh City) are delighted to receive the Certificate of Recognition for achieving national standards. This is the result of many years of striving, overcoming difficulties, and achieving many accomplishments in teaching and learning for the school…
Hung Dung Secondary School is honored to be located in the famous revolutionary "Red Village" area. Since 1939, with a tradition of valuing education, the "Four Villages of Van, Thien, Vinh, and Khai" association here mobilized the people to build a school, a place to teach literacy to children in the region... this is also the predecessor of Hung Dung Secondary School today.
Since the 1990s, Hung Dung Secondary School has been chosen as a training ground for teachers, students, and pupils from schools and teacher training colleges in the city. In addition, the school's teaching and learning quality has consistently remained stable, earning the trust and confidence of parents. Notably, for a long time, despite being located on the outskirts of the city, in an area with challenging economic conditions, Hung Dung Secondary School has continuously achieved many successes in its educational mission. This tradition and past achievements serve as the foundation and motivation for the school's determination to build a national standard school in the new phase.

The school's plan to build a national standard school was proposed in the 2011-2012 school year; however, the policy had been developed many years earlier, stemming from the practical needs and increasingly high demands of a school located in the city center. The construction process was not easy, because despite its long history, the school's assets and facilities were very modest. Besides the two practice buildings funded by UNICEF more than 20 years ago, most classrooms were rudimentary, old, single-story buildings. To overcome this, the school boldly advised and proposed to the Party Committee and government at all levels the minimum necessary infrastructure requirements, so that a comprehensive investment and construction plan could be developed.
Furthermore, improving the quality of teaching and learning is also given utmost attention. The school has directed subject-specific teams to develop detailed curricula for each subject and plans for organizing and implementing educational activities. This includes integrating and ensuring the achievement of knowledge and skills standards in line with the students' competency development orientation, while also being appropriate to the school's actual conditions. The school actively innovates teaching and learning methods to promote active participation, initiative, and creativity; effectively utilizes teaching aids and materials, and applies information technology. It diversifies teaching methods for subjects and educational activities to suit the knowledge content, educational themes, and student levels. Emphasis is placed on assigning tasks and guiding students in their home learning and extracurricular activities.
Regarding the teaching staff, their sense of responsibility has been significantly enhanced since the implementation of the policy to build a standard school. Not only are they actively engaged in self-study to improve their qualifications, but the school's teachers are also enthusiastic about innovating teaching methods and writing innovative teaching experiences. Currently, the school has a sufficient number of teachers, and 100% of them meet the required training standards, with 90% exceeding those standards and 9% holding master's degrees. 25% of teachers have achieved the title of excellent teacher at the city level or higher. Thanks to continuous innovation in teaching methods, professional development, and dedication and responsibility, the quality of teaching and learning at the school continues to be maintained and improved; the dropout and repetition rates have decreased, and the number of high-achieving students has increased; on average, 15% of students are classified as excellent each year, and 99.5% of students are promoted to the next grade. In the 2014-2015 academic year, the school had 31 students who achieved the title of "Excellent Student" at the city level, and 7 students who were recognized as "Excellent Students" at the provincial level. The school is among the top schools in the city in terms of the number of students admitted to specialized high schools, with 39 students admitted to Vinh University Specialized High School and 17 students admitted to Phan Boi Chau Specialized High School. Not only have the students excelled academically, but with the care and guidance of their teachers, they have also consistently demonstrated exemplary moral conduct, legal knowledge, and actively participated in maintaining security and order both inside and outside the school.

These achievements also form the basis for parents and local authorities to trust in the quality of teaching and learning at the school. Therefore, despite the difficult local conditions and the challenges faced by the people, the school receives material and moral support from the parent association every year. The People's Committee of Hung Dung ward has also invested over 6 billion VND to build a new three-story classroom building and facilities to meet the requirements of teaching and learning. Visiting Hung Dung Secondary School in the new academic year 2015-2016, parents and students are delighted with the spacious classrooms and modern, well-equipped facilities. The classrooms, traditional room, library, English practice room, and computer practice room have all been invested in to meet the required standards. The school grounds are meticulously cared for by teachers and students, shaded by green trees, and truly provide a "friendly" environment for lessons and extracurricular activities.
Being recognized as a national standard school also represents a significant new milestone in the school's development and acknowledges the school's tireless efforts throughout its long journey. Speaking about this achievement, Mr. Ninh Viet Tang, the school principal, shared: “Striving to build a national standard school is difficult, but maintaining this title is even more challenging. Therefore, in the coming time, the school will continue to improve the quality of comprehensive education, further promote the tradition of studiousness, excellent teaching and learning, and strive to complete the tasks of the school year to repay the trust and love of parents and students, and to be worthy of the revolutionary tradition of our heroic Lang Do village.”
