(Baonghean.vn) - According to AFP, on July 23, President Barack ObamaHe left the US to visit Kenya on a trip that included a stop in the Ethiopian capital.and visited the headquarters of the African Union (AU).

Obama's notable trip back to his ancestral homeland of Kenya, where his father was born, was his first visit as president, and also the first time a sitting US president has visited Ethiopia and the AU headquarters in Addis Ababa.

According to expectations, Obama will deliver a speech on regional security issues, and will also address issues related to trade, democracy, poverty, and human rights in the region.

Accompanying President Obama were National Security Advisor Susan Rice, Foreign Policy Assistant Ben Rhodes, and White House spokesman Josh Earnest.

Obama visited Africa four times during his term, but never visited Kenya, a previously planned visit that was postponed after Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta was convicted by the International Criminal Court of war crimes.

Those charges were postponed last year – according to prosecutors, partly because the Kenyan government obstructed the investigation.
