The Philippine Department of Energy said at least three workers were killed and six others are still missing after a coal mine collapse early on July 17.
The coal mine collapse occurred on Semirara Island in Antique province, central Philippines.
According to preliminary investigations by the Philippine Department of Energy, the accident occurred around 3:30 a.m. local time on July 17 in the northern area of the Panian coal mine on Semirara Island.

The coal mine collapsed after heavy rain. Nine workers were working underground at the time of the accident.
Philippine rescue teams have found the bodies of three people and are working to find six workers who are still missing.
Following the accident, the Philippine Department of Energy ordered a halt to operations at the Panian coal mine.
