According to AFP, on July 20, Egypt received three Rafale fighter jets from France. These are the first aircraft in a batch of 24 aircraft of the same type worth 5.6 billion USD that the two sides signed earlier this year.

It is known that Egyptian officials received the above aircraft at a base in southern France and the aircraft will be flown back to the country by specially trained Egyptian pilots on July 21.

Cairo hopes the fighter jets will help strengthen its military, which is struggling to cope with an unstable Libya in the west and threats from militants linked to the self-proclaimed Islamic State (IS) group in the Sinai Peninsula in the east./.
