Despite having just undergone a journey of more than 20 hours from Germany to Spain, in a broken and slow voice, Mr. Mohsen still thanked everyone for giving his family the opportunity to start over.
According to AP, Mr. Osama Abdul Mohsen and his son arrived in the city of Getafe, south of the capital Madrid (Spain) early this morning (September 17).
Mr. Mohsen was moved: “Thank you everyone. This is very important to my life. Thank you everyone very much.”
“I feel like I am flying in the sky. I am really happy right now,” Mr. Mohsen could not hide his great joy in front of reporters waiting for him and his father when they arrived in Barcelona.
After the incident at the Hungarian border, Mr. Mohsen and his son finally reached Germany. Images and information about the father and son appeared in many media and this helped change his life.
The director of CENAFE Football Academy (Madrid, Spain), Mr. Miguel Galan, after learning that Mohsen used to be a football coach in Syria, immediately invited him to work.
All expenses for Mr. Mohsen's family's travel from Germany to Spain and their new accommodation were covered by CENAFE.
Mr. Galan himself is also trying to help Mr. Mohsen's wife and two other children, who are in a refugee camp in Türkiye, to come to Madrid to reunite with their family.
Getafe city authorities also announced that they will soon legalize Mr. Mohsen's family's stay in Spain.
