Open doors for candidates

According to statistics from the Ministry of Education and Training on the afternoon of August 26, there are still more than 100 universities and colleges lacking enrollment targets. Schools are located across the three regions of the North, Central, and South, including both public and non-public schools, with tens of thousands of targets in many different fields and professions.

Bac Giang University of Agriculture and Forestry recruits more than 900 students. Viet Tri University of Industry recruits 1,500 students, Dalat University recruits 1,000 students, University of Business and Technology lacks 4,000 students...

The admission scores of most schools are very low, most of them are only equal to the threshold score to ensure input quality of the Ministry of Education and Training, which is 15 points for university level and 12 points for college level.

This means that the opportunity to pass the university or college entrance exam in the additional wish of candidates who failed the first wish is still very open.

The chance of passing is even more open when in the additional wish, candidates can register for 12 wishes at 3 schools at the same time.

According to the leader of the Ministry of Education and Training, this regulation aims to create maximum favorable conditions for candidates, overcoming the situation of candidates with high scores but still failing the university entrance exam like every year.

During the additional admission round, the Ministry also requires schools to continuously update information on the number of candidates applying to their schools in order of scores from highest to lowest. However, unlike the first round, candidates will not be allowed to withdraw their application from one school to apply to another.

In addition to considering additional wishes, candidates also have the opportunity to be admitted to university based on high school grades. According to statistics from the Ministry of Education and Training, there are more than 200 schools that have other admission options besides those based on national high school exam scores. Of which, the option chosen by most schools is based on academic transcript scores.

School of virtual records

Candidates have many advantages, but universities are worried about fake applications when they have many wishes.

As someone with decades of experience in admissions, Mr. Le Huu Lap, from the Academy of Posts and Telecommunications Technology, said that the number of fake applications for the additional admission round is very large.

“In the first round, candidates were only allowed to register for one school, but there were fake applications. This round, candidates are allowed to register for up to three schools, so the fake application pool will be larger. The fake applications are not only between schools but also within each school because each student is allowed to register for four majors,” said Mr. Lap.

Mr. Cao Quoc An, Head of Training Department of Forestry University, said that this is also a problem that gives the school a headache. “We are only worried about calling 1,000 students but only worry about a few hundred students coming,” Mr. An shared.

To avoid this situation, the University of Business and Technology has decided to issue admission certificates as soon as candidates come to complete the procedures if they meet the admission score requirements as required by the school.

Admitting that there will be a situation of virtual candidates in the additional admission round. However, according to Mr. Tran Van Nghia, Director of the Department of Testing and Quality Assurance, Ministry of Education and Training, previous years also had virtual situations when considering additional admissions. Therefore, schools also have solutions to overcome this situation.

According to regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training, schools will receive additional application documents from candidates until September 7./.
