The 55th Artillery Regiment receives the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces.

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of September 23, the 341st Division (Military Region 4) held a ceremony to receive the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces for the 55th Artillery Regiment.

The ceremony was attended by leaders of agencies under the Ministry of National Defence; the commander of Military Region 4; and more than 300 officers and soldiers of the 55th Artillery Regiment from various periods.

At the ceremony, on behalf of the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Major General Tran Huu Tuat, Deputy Commander of Military Region 4, presented the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces to the 55th Artillery Regiment.

More than 40 years ago, in response to the demands of the Southern battlefield during the final stages of the war against the US, the 55th Artillery Regiment (341st Division) was established on September 26, 1973. During the war against the US, the Regiment had the honor of being part of the rapid-fire army, participating in the historic Ho Chi Minh Campaign, with many major battles and resounding victories, leaving a strong mark on battlefields and locations such as Xuan Loc, Long Khanh, Trang Bom, Ho Nai, and Bien Hoa city, contributing alongside the army and people of the whole country to liberate the South and unify the Fatherland.

Following the victorious conclusion of the Ho Chi Minh Campaign, the 55th Artillery Regiment joined forces with units of the 341st Division to directly fight to defend the southwestern border of the Fatherland and to carry out international duties assisting the revolutionary forces and people of Cambodia.

Major General Tran Huu Tuat, Deputy Commander of Military Region 4, presented the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces to the 55th Artillery Regiment.

With many outstanding achievements in the resistance war against the US and for national liberation, the 55th Artillery Regiment was awarded two First-Class Military Merit Orders and one Second-Class Military Merit Order by the Party and the State; many collectives and individuals of the Regiment received other prestigious awards.

In particular, on December 16, 2014, President Truong Tan Sang issued a Decision awarding the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces to the 55th Artillery Regiment (341st Division - Military Region 4).

This is a prestigious award, a great source of pride for generations of officers and soldiers of the 55th Artillery Regiment in particular, and the 341st Division in general. They will continue to uphold the heroic traditions of the unit, unite as one, and strive to successfully fulfill all assigned tasks, contributing together with the entire Party, army, and people to successfully implement the two strategic tasks of building and defending the Fatherland in the new situation.
