Launching Trinh Cong Son Music Scholarship

(Baonghean.vn) - The official launching ceremony of the Trinh Cong Son Music Scholarship program in Ho Chi Minh City (August 28, 2015) aims to support Vietnamese musical talents and children with autism symptoms.

Next week, two professors from the Center for Linguistics, Literature and Culture - UCLA, one of the leading universities in the US, will come to Vietnam to discuss plans with the family of musician Trinh Cong Son to develop the subject "Trinh Cong Son studies" here. This subject at UCLA is in its second year with students being Vietnamese Americans and other foreigners. It is known that this is the third university in the world after France and Japan to have a department specializing in Trinh Cong Son studies - as part of a course on Vietnamese literature and culture.

The street naming ceremony is scheduled to take place at 8:30 a.m. on August 26, 2015 at Ly Tu Trong flower garden, Tay Ho district, witnessed by representatives of Tay Ho district People's Committee, Vietnam Musicians Association, Vietnam Writers Association, and Vietnam Union of Literature and Arts Associations.

From the approval decision of the Hanoi People's Council on July 6, 2015, the road named after the late famous musician Trinh Cong Son was officially chosen. It is a newly opened road along West Lake, considered by many to be one of the most romantic and beautiful roads in the capital. The road stretches from the intersection, lane 612 Lac Long Quan to the intersection with the slope of Au Co embankment, Tay Ho district. The road is 900m long, 9.5 - 12.5m wide.

Moved by the warm welcome of Hanoians and the capital city government to musician Trinh Cong Son, all family members currently residing in Ho Chi Minh City will come to Hanoi to attend this ceremony. In addition, the family will also invite some close friends to attend./.
