(Baonghean.vn) - On September 9th, the Nghe An Provincial Tax Department solemnly celebrated the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the Tax ngành and the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Nghe An Provincial Tax Department. Attending the ceremony were: Mr. Ho Duc Phoc - Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Mr. Tran Hong Chau - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Council, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Duong - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, members of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, representatives from various departments and districts, and former and current tax officials.

Throughout 70 years since the establishment of the tax sector and 25 years since the establishment of the Nghe An Tax Department, tax officials and employees in general, and the Nghe An Tax Department in particular, have overcome difficulties and strived to excellently fulfill their political tasks. The Nghe An Tax Department consistently exceeds its annual revenue targets, receiving high praise from the central government and the province for its application of information technology. The Nghe An Tax Department was awarded a Certificate of Merit by the Ministry of Finance as an outstanding unit, leading the country in electronic tax payment for two years (2014-2015).

According to a report on the Nghe An tax sector by Mr. Nguyen Dinh Hoa, Director of the Nghe An Tax Department: The Nghe Tinh tax sector was established on August 21, 1990, based on the merger of three organizations: the Industrial and Commercial Tax Sub-department; the State-owned Enterprise Tax Sub-department; and the Agricultural Tax Sub-department. The Nghe An tax sector was officially established on August 27, 1991 (after the province was separated), according to Decision No. 308 of the Minister of Finance.

From 1991 to 2015, the Nghe An Tax Department consistently exceeded its assigned revenue targets. In 2015, the tax sector committed to working with other sectors to achieve its term-end goal of collecting 10,000 - 10,500 billion VND.

Comrade Nguyen Dinh Hoa, Director of the Nghe An Tax Department, delivered a speech recalling the traditions of the tax sector.

The department has consistently overcome difficulties, demonstrated creativity in management, implemented many effective projects and initiatives, managed revenue well, and successfully completed its tasks. Through the implementation of projects, solutions, initiatives, and improvements in practical work, the Nghe An Tax Department has successfully managed tax collection in the most difficult and complex areas, such as: managing tax collection from tutoring and exam preparation activities; managing tax collection from private transportation businesses; managing restaurants and hotels; combating tax evasion in mineral exploitation and processing; combating tax evasion in the business premises rental sector; and managing the motorbike business sector, resulting in hundreds of billions of dong in revenue.

The Nghe An Tax Department has been awarded numerous prestigious titles and commendations by the State, the Ministry of Finance, the Provincial People's Committee, and the General Department of Taxation, including: 1 First-Class Labor Medal for the Nghe An Tax Department; 5 Second-Class Labor Medals; 33 Third-Class Labor Medals; 59 Certificates of Merit from the Prime Minister, 328 Certificates of Merit from the Ministry of Finance, 438 Certificates of Merit from the Provincial People's Committee; along with many Excellent Emulation Flags from the Government, Ministries, and the Provincial People's Committee.

Speaking at the Conference, Comrade Nguyen Xuan Duong highly appreciated the achievements of the tax sector nationwide in general and the Nghe An tax sector in particular during the past historical period, especially in recent years, which have made a great contribution to the overall socio-economic achievements of the province. He stated that the tax sector needs to actively compete to ensure resources for socio-economic development in the coming time. He emphasized the need to focus intensely on budget revenue collection, actively advise the province on effective revenue collection solutions, manage revenue sources well, and strive to achieve budget self-sufficiency by 2020. In the immediate future, the focus should be on completing the target set by the 17th Party Congress with a revenue of 10,000 - 10,500 billion VND; continuing to reform tax administration, supporting businesses and enhancing their competitiveness, and building a team of highly skilled professionals with good ethics, discipline, and integrity. Organize vibrant emulation activities to celebrate the Party Congress at all levels, and further improve charitable work in the area.

The conference also heard presentations from various units and veteran tax officials. On this occasion, on behalf of the Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial People's Council, the Provincial People's Committee, and the Provincial Fatherland Front, the provincial leaders presented the Nghe An Tax Department with a banner bearing the inscription: "Nghe An Tax Department: 70 years of tradition, unity, innovation, efficiency, and outstanding achievement in state budget revenue collection."
